I'm unable to get my new build with a X99E-ITX/ac to post with 3 beeps (suggests ram issue)? The machine's specs are below. I tried swapping out the 2x16gb sticks for a single 4gb Adata stick and still got three beeps. I'm about to RMA, but I thought I would check here first and see if anyone had any ideas.

Mobo: X99E-ITX/ac
CPU: 6850k
Memory: G.Skill DDR4-3200 Tridentz 2x16gb (tried swapping with a single 4gb A data)
Graphics Card: 1080 GTX FE
HD: M.2 SM961 1TB

What speed is the adata memory? I wonder if your CPU won't handle 3200mhz memory.

Try removing both sticks then booting, same post code?
Remove GPU, same post code?

Remove CPU and check for bent/broken pins. I had a broken pin on my evga x99 that would only effect memory channels 3 and 4...

I bought the a-data purely to try to get this thing to boot. The A-data is a single stick of 4gb 2133mhz, the G.Skill is 2 sticks of 3200mhz 16gb. CPU looks ok. No changes from unplugging the graphics card.

For posterity - Tried an official new bios chip and reinspected the socket-no dice.

Swapped in a new identical mobo-everything worked without issue- even the 32gb of ddr4 3200 (although haven't yet tested the XMP). Thanks for all of your replies.

I know its not you ram since you already swapped it out but I just wanted to led you know that I have a very similar system to yours and I can not get my 2x16gb sticks to work at XMP (3200mhz). So far best I can do is 2800mhz.

Interesting- what was your issue with the XMP? Not a huge loss if I end up at 2800, and would be good to know if its a hard barrier.

Edit: Also, did you try the 3.4 beta bios? Supposedly increases compatibility with high speed ram. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99E-ITXac/?cat=Beta

Yeah. My system just fails to post when using XMP. Thanks for the info on the new bios! Im gonna try it this weekend.

Great news guys! Just updated the latest bios that came out yesterday and so far my ram is working perfectly using XMP profile. I have ran two benchmarks so far without any hicups. With the old bios It would crash in seconds or sometimes not even post. Im so happy!

Yep, I was able to get mine going on XMP. Unfortunately, memtest caught an error on 2 out of 6 passes, both on test 7, both on the same bit, so I had to RMA the memory (I don't think thats a bios issue). Glad its working for you-

Can you tell me which memtest you used. Maybe give me some links and directions on how to use it?

I used the free version of this- http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm. It creates a bootable USB drive, which upon loading up performs a suite of tests on the memory. It took about ~6hrs to run four passes of the tests. I like to run the whole thing 2-3 times, for a total of 8-12 passes, but other people use different thresholds.

There are other software suites- Windows has one, theres also HCl (also windows based) and a fork of memtest86 called memtest86+. I'll leave it to more experienced members to outline the pros and cons of different ones- I would say the most important thing is running any thorough testing suite on the memory, with the specific suite used of secondary importance.
