Nintendo Switch owners beware: it appears the console can become warped due to poor heat dissipation that comes from leaving the system docked for too long. Reddit user _NSR noticed their Nintendo Switch warping and posted a picture of how bad it's gotten after roughly one month of use.

Wouldn't you think they would have discovered this in testing? I hope this doesnt lead to issues with the console. I know I play for hours on end...

First news post, let me know i i messed something up...

I dock mine regularly too and no warping.

It's almost like a few people having problems isn't representative of everyone's experiences with that product.

Nintendo is dead. They are a mobile game developer now. (its sad to see they are still stuck in the 80/90's)

I'm not saying it's a widespread issue (yet) but most owners only have had their Switch for a few weeks
too early to tell

I doubt the QC team at Nintendo got weeks to test for heat and its effect on the plastic housing.

Anyways, this is very sad news even if it's isolated considering it's a tiny little mobile chip melting the console, let this be an excuse for me to laugh at Nintendo...heaven forbid if they tried to pack PS4P/Scorpio level hardware

Just gotta hope they make a console version.
They keep using crappy IPS screens that have interlacing/scan line artifacts, and I don't want to deal with a dying battery.
Plus, the size of the console would be incredibly small.

I didn't intended for this to be a hate post. Thought it might prompt people to check their own system...

This x1000. It would be nice and small and probably a little less money.

When you have multiple materials with different CTE's (coefficents of thermal expansion), and then attach them mechanically together (either with glue, psa, haf, screws, snaps, ect), and then a decent amount of heating and cooling, then you can gets things moving relative to other things. That is the force. Think of a bimetal stripe, but less exagerated.

Welcome to the manufacturing defect distribution. In consumer electronics, no device is tested to make sure that all parts are 100% in spec or that everything was assembled 100% correct. It's just too expensive and time consuming. There will always be some % that are bad. With the internet, we can see those .01% failures as a single voice can be loud if there is enough attention. A single user is NEVER a large enough sample size. And thus a single user saying they've never seen it despite whatever is no indication of anything good or bad.

it's absolutely BS Sony never owned up to YLOD
I'm pretty sure it was something like 1 in 4 fat PS3 are ticking time bombs.

Good to see ocn hasn't changed.
Yep, armpit of the internet as I'd like to call it.

begs the question: why am I still here? Guess it's a half-decent source for tech news.

I take it you did not bother reading the article
