I'm thinking about buying an Acer Predator XB252Q just for FPS. I'd go 27" but I want a good PPI so the 25" should be fine. What are everyone's thoughts on these bad boys? Should be out sometime next month.

From TFT Central:

"There are a couple of new models announced. First, the Predator XB252Q will offer another choice in the 24.5" size, while the Predator XB272 will represent the first available 27" option. Both offer a 1ms G2G response time along with the native 240Hz refresh rate TN Film panel. They are combined with NVIDIA G-sync and support Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) as well. Both sport a 1920 x 1080 resolution, which some may find a little low in the 27" size for day to day use, but should be fine for a lot of gaming. The panels also offer a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 170/160 viewing angles and sRGB gamut."

I'll be grabbing the xb252q or the Asus pg258q - whichever is cheapest/released first on Amazon.

Will be nice not having to really worry about capping your framerate when using gsync @ 240hz. Was having issues with some games on my 144hz one where even if I capped at 140 using rivatuner/nvidia inspector/ingame option, it would still fluctuate to 143-145 sometimes and I would occasionally see slight tearing/stutter because of it. Would have to cap at 130/135 to be safe - somewhat annoying.

Hopefully the panels they use are good and don't have terrible uniformity/clouding like the xb241h/pg248q.

That Asus does look mighty sexy. Wish I could order today.

It's nice to have G-SYNC just in case another Crysis-like game comes along and my GPU needs all the help it can get.

True, however, I doubt you'd be able to get a steady 240fps in any crysis title. The only way you'd be able to do that is to play on 720p on the lowest settings even with your pascal titan. That being said you'd probably get the same experience with a 1440p or 1080p 144hz gsync monitor. Then again, you do have a titan, so what is a 500$ monitor to you? Haha.

I was talking about in terms of getting less than 60fps in some new beastly game. G-SYNC would come in handy in that situation.

I'm interested in these monitors simply because it's been a long while since I gamed on anything other than 60Hz. I'm talking CRT days. I want to try it out and compare it to my current 49KS8000 60Hz HDR display.

Even If tftcentral claims it's the best gaming monitor it'll still be their opinion. Everyone has different needs/tastes when it comes to monitors.

Side note, I heard that anything above 144Hz usually introduces more ghosting. Hope this isn't the case with these monitors.

Oh for sure, when i saw the BenQ @ 500 my first thought was theres that BenQ esports tax, should be $400 tops. When i saw the Asus Gsync one @ 600 compared to this $550 Acer, well i can only think of the $50 ROG tax being the difference in that one. Granted the Asus looks nice, i like the look minus the stand feet. I would have tried the Asus already but since it cant go lower than 115 nits at the lowest brightness its no good for me, plus they could have done a better job with the overdrive circuit.

Counting on this Acer to be better in that regard.

How are these monitors?

I like the look of the stand on the Acer 240hz+gsync a lot more than the Asus one (why 3 legs instead of a solid base? that doesn't seem particularly stable..)

I'm only seeing asus w/ 240hz+gsync from my preferred UK retailers and even then it's out of stock

Just got my PG258Q this morning from Amazon Prime. Finished mounting it to my desk but I'm still setting it up. I did test 240Hz briefly in Overwatch after opening the box. So silky.

Here are some mounted pics for anyone considering VESA mounting.

I bought the WALI WL-M001XL from Amazon. Works perfect with this monitor.

Super thin bezels on this monitor.
