Considering getting a 27 inch 1440p monitor however I'm not sure I'd be able to sit far enough away from the monitor to justify it. Would 20-22 inches be a large enough distance to comfortably use it? Or would I notice individual pixels and be uncomfortable viewing the monitor? Upgrading from a 22 inch monitor right now so I have no frame of reference. Thanks so much!

I'm in the same boat, only 1080p, and I have a very shallow desk. The optimum viewing distance according to OSHA is 20"-40", so your in the range at least. I find with mine when I'm doing normal tasks like email and web surfing 20"-24" is fine, but when I game I like to sit back farther and luckily i have a good chair that lets me lean back and do that. I just measured and my best viewing distance is about 34". So there's my 2 cents for ya.

Go for it. I am at about 20 inches from mine and it looks spectacular. You also have to consider that at 1:1 res anything farther than that makes it hard to read whats on the screen.
