got mine 3 days after Christmas xfx merc 7900 xtx black. 859.99 shipped. Went through that company that 'loans' you the money to newegg and you pay it back monthly, Affirm... played with it for 2 weeks for free, then payed it off no penalty. Hit the max discount at 100$. Free delivery. Was simple actually, just know you cannot pay them off with another credit card. they prefer wire or debit
and just FYI xt or xtx the 7900 series is monster. Tons fo Ram for AI gen stuff, stable diffusion, with my xt I wasnt running out at 1024x1024 and generating a pic every 3 sec or so..friend of mine has non super 4080 he payed 1400 for... and it would insta run out and crash....same went for returnals game and harry potter last year with **** cranked....and the xtx is barely worse than 4080 in RT these days, drivers handling rocm and RT and all that actually got some effort put into them... Is it as smooth sailing as Nvidia? i'D SAY...no... But within reason its acceptible. But if you dont mind some tweaking and playing around with settings....These cards are insanely good.. only bested by other not stock 4090s. And you know the tag of those. But. It is better... These are the conclusions i've came to and I own a xfx merc 7900 xt and xtx both black editions! OH and you were asking about 7900 xt and 4k... I played with over 100fps with a tune on the sliders in f22, forza horizons, hogwarts, returnals, dcs world, mw2 on 21:9 5120x2160, so about 11mill pixels ...I think 4k is ~8 or a little less??...one game that was a struggle eeven with extra juice on tap... was pathtracing on cyberpunk, but... with framgen and fliud motion getting better and having active mods...its gotten pretty tolerable 60fps 4k on cpunk for the xt at 600w was about where it could sit with stock cooler and evc. when bone stock 1440p is nicer for XT with heavy ray or path tracing, xtx is noticely better in those areas.. high res and rt/pt.
This is not to say the 4080 isn't damn smooth, it is. I've played on one with a flashed bios and it was strong. But 16gb is meh...okay for 4070super price rang, but for 4080? no ty. but that answer always changing depending on each persons needs.
cheeers!
