Hey all you AMD heads

What RADEON video card would YOU get if you had to get one?

I want a well balanced rig. No use in getting a badass card and then having a CPU bottleneck. I dont know much about AMD stuff especially this AMD stuff. This is mainly a HTPC and Star Wars rig. I would LOVE to overclock this one in the future. For now though I would like to get a SILENT card and will pay more for a quieter card.

Some of the current parts:

AMD A4-3400 Llano 2.7GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103955

BIOSTAR A55MH FM1 AMD A55
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138336

Rosewill R103A Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147010

RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152035

338

Q: What card and why?

Q: Should I overclock this? If so what card should I get?

Q: Can you guys tell me more about the PROS & CONS of this one?

Why are you buying an APU processor and a separate GPU? With the APU you're paying extra for the built-in Radeon HD 6410D graphics, which should work great alone in an HTPC. Although to get the most out of the APU graphics you should pair it with 1600 RAM or faster (APU graphics uses system RAM rather than dedicated, 1333 or lower RAM severely limits the potential.)

Though if you'll be gaming on this rig you'd definitely need a better GPU. But why an A4 when there are better CPUs without built-in graphics for cheaper?

A 6850 should work very nice in this build lower power consumption and great performing card.

ON THE OTHER HAND, the 7770 just came out wich seems to match the 6850 in performance has lower power consumption and can be overclocked extremely high! but it is a little bit more money

I think once the drivers are more mature for the 7770 you should see it climb above the 6850 in performance. just my

Budget?

Get Corsair CX430 instead. Do NOT get that RAIDMAX PSU! You don't need 630 W PSU in the beginning.

If you want to overclock you SHOULD HAVE pick A6-3670K instead
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106002

Either spend more and buy this MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138333

OR buy MOSFET heatsink and apply it to A55 MB you have picked
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011

Get DDR3-1600 RAM (absolute must)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147095

For GPU (since you want silence and willingly to pay premium). Hybrid CF it with iGPU

Okay first off I THOUGHT I made it very clear that I already HAVE these parts I got everything for free cause I am so freaking awesome.

Anyways, I would have to thank mister Val cause he was the only one who seems like he has USEFUL information. I am not trying to be mean, just calling it how it is. I asked a very simple and straight forward question.

Now, so what EXACT HD 6450 card would you guys get if you had to get one off of amazon or newegg?

Please, just stick to the question's at hand.

And thank you very very much mister Val. I appreciate you taking the time.

A6-3670K can CF up to 6670.
Obviously I am a man. And I posted I have an A4-3400. Sorry just a rough day with the homework.

6450 cannot overclock in any sense. Any 6450 works. Just grab the cheapest 6450.

Do you guys know if there is a quieter or louder 6450?

What about brand?

Isn't there a 512 and a 1024?

In your case, HD6450 is the highest card you can CF. Money wise, it is best to get HD6670 (or HD7750) and forget about hybrid CF. Hybrid CF with HD6450 gives you about the performance between HD6450 and HD6570.

Hmm.. So now I have a choice to make. But I only have this choice because of your expertise and time. Which I thank you very much for sir. Very awesome research.

Either way this PC will be a very cheap build and will be very awesome for the money spent, which on my part is $0 so far and on my girls part is $209 so far. It has about 10 times the power per dollar as my Rig =/ And about 1/10th as noisy. Also, I doubt it will put out any heat. I think maybe for now I can go with the 6450 and in a few months or so go ahead and get me a HD7750. But are we sure that that card going wont be too much for this CPU?

And I think I will opt for the 2gig =)

There is no point in buying 2 GB version when it comes to low end card like 6450. Your GPU processing power will be a problem before you run out of graphics memory. HD7750 won't be a bottleneck with APU. Now if you intend to buy higher end GPU like HD6870 or HD7850 above then you do need a more powerful processor.

As for when you should worry about graphics memory, 2 GB is only needed/recommended beginning on HD6950 or HD7850 and above.

Word.

So then we can all agree though that the HD7750 (or close to it) would be the best choice for a BALANCED build on this rig?

Basically, so I can play a game of starcraft or star wars when I am sick in bed and to handle ANY 1080p/Blu-Ray/3D ****.
