I want to use Fan Xpert as it is the only GUI-based program for my motherboard that can control fans. I know that it is very bad to install ASUS AISuite as it presents some issues when installed. Is there a way to use Fan Xpert without installing AISUite?

What is the latest versionn of these programs that is compatible with my motherboard?

Just install fan xpert and disable all the other stuff.

But you still need to install AISuite then, right?

I think it installs it as a base program.

When I started the setup it gave me a list of other apps, I unchecked all of them and just kept Fan Xpert.

That's what I was thinking too but I'm just concerned that even the base program will produce any kind of effect in the stability of the system. What do you guys think?

Would the AISuite III work with my motherboard though?

You can skip AI Suite. You can download Fan Xpert as a standalone.
If you have PWM fans, only the CPU headers are true PWM, rest is voltage.
You can use Speedfan which does the same thing and less bloatware.

Speedfan is a pain to setup at first..

Oh ok then. But I think Fan Xpert also controls the voltage-controlled (3-pin) fans to some extent, right?

Do you guys have a guide in how to setup Speedfan? I never tried it but heard many good things in the past.

It does control voltage, but if you have a PWM fan on a voltage header, damage will happen. They limit the lowest header to 40%, which is about 5v.
Speedfan only controls true PWM headers, so CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT.
As CPU_OPT is tied with CPU_FAN they act as one.
Another option is to use a fan controller. If you have lots of PWM fans, you can use Swiftech PWM 8-Way splitter. Power is from PSU via Sata or Molex and 4pin header to CPU to see and control speed.

Speedfan tutorial. There is others on youtube.

Oh ok. Why would PWM fans inserted into voltage fan headers be damaged? Without any PWM signal on the fan, they act as regularly voltage-controlled fans (100% PWM all the time), don't they?

EDIT: I just tried FanXpert and it seems to only control the Chassis fans. Doesn't it have control over the PWR fan headers as well?

BUMP!

Ive been using AI Suite II for over a year now. All the features it comes with installed but the thingy that messes with internet connection - which name i forgot - and other than that single program i have never had any problems with it.

I use AISUITE3 without any issues.

Excellent O/C from the desktop and really good fan control software. Uncheck all the stuff you don't need and you will be fine.

Almost everybody here don't recommend OC'ing using software, you might want to consider that especially when you're here at OCN

Works fine for me.

My 5Ghz Ivybridge and 4.7Ghz Haswell agree

You might want to consider not being so patronising.

Fine. I'm not, in any way, patronising. I'm just giving you a suggestion, if you don't agree then that's fine also. Let's just agree to disagree.

Back to topic regarding Fan Xpert, please.
