The AA is a big deal IMO, it makes everything look smoother and more "real".

It's really up to you whether it's worth it or not though...
Indeed.

Most people say AA is pointless from 1080 and up resolutions. I disagree. Sure you don't 'need' graphics..but it 'does' make a difference.

The aliasing is still noticeable in high resolutions on smaller objects and thing objects..like light poles and fences..especially as they go further off in the distance (as they are but pixels wide)...AA will Antialias the scene and smooth it out! So when I am playing 1920x1080 with No AA sure it looks great..but if I'm an enthuthiast I can make it look even better..not immensely but ever little bit helps....things like lightpoles and fences now look more realistic because they aren't staggering oddly in the distance =-D

get it! this game rocks

resolution doesn't have anything to do with the necessity of anti aliasing, its the pixel pitch.

a 27" monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080 is going to need anti aliasing a lot more than a 27" monitor capable of 2560x1440.

If we can get to about 300 pixels per inch on a desk top monitor (27" 2560x1440 is at 108 pixels per inch, with the average desktop monitor being closer to 90-100 range) anti aliasing will likely become largely unnecessarily

I understand that. I am just unfamiliar with most of what you said and was uncertain how to explain what I meant without the proper terminology. Certainly helps me understand it better though, thank you.

edit:

on another note.

I switched between DX10 and DX11 to take these screenshots.

The most obvious change are the shadows. The stepping is still visible but less noticeable thanks to the guassian like blur.

DX10 - all maxed, 8xQAA

DX11 - all maxed, 8xQAA

Just to note; the shadows in the DX10 screenshot, albeit looking worse due to its stepping, but are far sharper...and maybe they don't look 'that' bad in the screenshot..walking around in game with all the shadows looking like that..it looked pretty terrible and stuck out like a sore thumb. So props for better shadows in DX11..

A few things.

1. Metro2033 sucks (Any game that doesn't have a good multiplayer or any multiplayer sucks overall.. don't bash me on this casual users) It's just these games have no future and die sooner or later.

2. Get Bad Company 2 for what it is.. it's amazing.

3. About DX 10 and DX 11.. they both look the SAME. It's all about f*cking explosions there and bullets flying next to you.. do you really think you would be able to see a difference? U wont even see any difference if you just stay there and TRY to. DX 11 = ******ed advertisement. Tho some games perform better on DX11 than DX10.

DX11 may help con others into buying DX11 hardware...

however.

it's up to the developer to implement DX11 and or any other latest feature..

The whole "oh DX11 and PhysX is just a joke and it's just to get you to buy their product"

Well I got news for you..it's been like that since day 1 about EVERYthing you've bought. Truth is..DX11 IS better than DX10 ..weither you know it or not..every little bit counts and overtime, when you compare BF2 to BC2 which looks better? All those trivial things that have been added over time accumulate and they do make differences.

DX10 shadows in BC2 stand out like a sore thumb..sure you may not notice it all the time..or at all..and if you play in DX10 you won't notice it because that's what you're used to..but if you play in DX11 you will notice the shadows are much nicer..because they are..and lighting/shadows are a big part in delivering a realistic or 'better' graphical experience overall.
