when I play games I get a buzzing noise that comes out of my computer. I checked and found that there was some slight buzzing from the graphics card as well as the PSU. It seemed like they were kind of buzzing in sync with each other based on the noise they were making. Its an electrical type of buzzing noise and there is a millisecond pause sometimes and it is always in sync between the PSU and the GPU. I never noticed this noise until after I installed the accerlero cooler on the graphics card, so im thinking that the noise from the stock cooler just kind of masked the noise so i never heard it.

Here are some things I have done to narrow down the problem.

Changed motherboard = still buzzing
turned off EIST = still buzzing
Replacement PSU= still buzzing
plugged into difference circuit = still buzzing
cleaned out the psu = still buzzing
installed older GPU drivers = still buzzing

Things I noticed:
Overclocking the GPU causes the buzz to get louder
changing voltage on GPU has no effect
Buzzing happens only in games
No buzzing during furmark
no buzzing during furmark + prime95 at same time

I dont know what is going on or what to do at this point. Could this electrical buzzing noise be caused by my GPU and need to be sent in for an RMA? I have heard from some people that my PSU has so-so voltage regulation so could it just be that the PSU that I use is making the noise and passing the noise on to the GPU? If it is the case I have an AX850 coming either today or tomorrow so I can try that out.

any and all help is VERY appreciated.

BTW it is not any type of squealing or high pitched noise, it is a very electrical sounding noise.

OR is it completely normal for a gpu and psu to buzz slightly in games?

Youre missing the possible obvious... contact with another component causing a physical buzz.

Probably coil whine from the GPU. Apparently it's nothing to worry about, but I RMA'd my 6970 because it was pretty loud. The card I got still has it, but not so loud.

Also... your card has the same symptoms:
Overclocking makes more noise, underlocking makes it disappear.
Doesn't occur in Furmark.

And does it make a high pitch whine when fps is like 500 or something? In some game menus like Minecraft, or right after Heaven benchmark.

i just noticed the other day while playing Swtor that my gpu has a very very minor buzzing sound as well while playing games....goes away while not playing anything

from my reading coil whine is semi-common and still a mystery as to why it happens

Its not a big deal. The gtx 285s i had used to buzz alot. Some say that its the capacitors that cause the whining buzzing noise.

meant its a mystery as to why some do whine and other dont...do some research there is no conclusive reason as to why come components do it and others dont

i think that pretty much all of the gf200 cards whine. ive had gtx285 gtx275 and gtx260 and they all whine. and it get worse after you put them to fold for a while.

Ive had my HD3850 running 24/7 for close to 4 years now and it never makes a sound. Maybe you guys are used to junk then.

no, were just used to having more than 256MB of VRAM, not to mention we are also used to playing more games than just minecraft. Move along troll.

You will actually find that most high performance cards produce a buzzing like sound when put under load. This is totally normal.

thats what I was thinking might be happening. It seemed like it was drawing so much energy that I could hear it in the card. Thank you for your input on this!

Thanks man, +1 right back at ya. I know a thing or two about GPU's, and I believe it is safe to say the card is simply under a high load.
