It's been very slow moving recently because of work and the daughter but this project is still moving along!

I'm done sleeving for the most part. At least far enough along to start putting the PC back together and work on some cable management... Routing cables behind the board is going to be a task with this case since it comes from an era before cable management was really a thing. I will hopefully get it all set up and running the way I want by the end of next week.

For now, here are more shots of the sleeving. CPU power cables this time around;

Took some time but it's mostly put together. As far as most of the aesthetics are concerned, it's basically done. Going to try and get a Samsung 950 Pro to work as a boot drive on the X58 platform and add that as well. Then I will be adding a hard drive bay in 3 5.25" slots for some HDD lovin'.

Ha! I do, indeed. I was thinking about a black piece of acrylic but then I was also thinking of putting a White LED strip on the top section and you'd probably see through the acrylic if I did that... I was also thinking of maybe a piece of steel held on with magnets... That would be pretty cool and non-permanent for when I want to get behind there.

A piece of black acrylic with a design on it. If you get a semi transparant black, it would look cool to glow with LED strip behind. Attach with inset magnets or countersunk screws. Just be careful the magnets don't get too close to components.

I have a friend who does some welding and metal-work who I'm going to reach out to and see if we can come up with an idea. I would like to stick with the metal theme going on in the build - only the front cover is plastic, the rest of the case is completely steel except for the aluminum side panels I took from another case. I'm hoping he would be able to do some fancy work and get the name of the build cut out/engraved into the steel, either like a stencil or simple engraving. The stencil Idea would be cool with a light behind it but you'd see some of the wires again... Maybe that's not a bad thing... Time to play around.

Put in a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB NVMe SSD with a PCIe adapter and a 3x5.25 to 4x3.5 hard drive hot-swap bay. I can safely say the build is complete. I will see about fabricating something for the top section to cover the cables later down the line.

A little over a year after I started;

The end! Wish I had a better camera for dark situations without flash. Always gets blurry because of the lights.

Appreciate it! I should have expected it to take as long as it did considering everything I planned. It was a lot of tedious smaller jobs that took commitment but now that it's done I'm very happy with the end result. I know it's the typical 'red' theme on a computer but what can I say it's one of my favorite colors.

Really turned out great,love the color combination,a timeless case,I should know,have three of them!

Nice... Yea I have 3 as well. The silver one I used for a family member's PC, the blue one is this modded one, and then a red one I took the side panels off of for this build... So it's red with blue side panels.

good to see the mnpctech billet cable combs worked out for you!

Love the red/white/black paint job too!

They worked out great! They're the perfect size and the wires clip right in. Love the fact that they'll last forever.

Appreciate the compliment on the case! I watched a few of your videos to help guide me along the way

Just watched that video while at work - Love it! Plextor is still around by the way and they make some really nice SSD's. I have the Plextor M6 Pro in a PC and it screams quality. The M8Pe is also a really nice NVMe drive that was the only real competition for the 950 Pro from what I remember a couple years ago.

It's funny you brought up cable management because the only 2 things really lacking with this case because of it's age is space for cable management and larger fans.

Cut-outs for 2x120mm in front and 2x92mm in back + motherboard tray dremel work + adhesive clips and zip ties to the rescue!

The side panel buldges out ever so slightly. It actually fits well with the adhesive clips - it's the 24pin cable from the PSU that's kind of thick and then down near the bottom with all the cables crossing over there's only so much I can do... Probably should have stuck with the steel one for the panel without a window!

It's certainly on my list. I have an Antec PlusView 1000 AMG looking for some love...

Looks great! A slight side panel bulge is expected for any properly configured Dragon. My old dragon had to be laid face down on the floor and I had to lean on the side door to get everything behind the motherboard back in.

ever thought of that?

there are 2x6+8 pin extensions,a 24pin and 8pin extension,USB front panel extension and five hard disks running behind the tray,

That's an impressive amount of equipment to hide back there. Do the HDD's get hot? What do you actually have them mounted to, the panel or the back of the motherboard tray? And is that 3 additional HDD's I'm seeing at the top of your case? And to round out the 21 questions, do you have any pictures of the 2500k build in your signature?

In the end I wouldn't want to go down that path now because 1) I wouldn't be able to make something like that look good and 2) I already painted it and I am actually lazy.
