Yeah the total so far on my rig that I just sold was at 2,000 with changing the case a couple of times, the video card etc. I dunno, I don't like craigs list for computer related purchases. Always seems like a great deal and either it's a lie or scam or the stuff has been abused like crazy.

Fail to see how it's not that great of a deal, when only pricing the processor, memory and 2x video cards on Newegg is ~$400 more expensive. Now add in 2x 1TB hard drives, OS, case, cooling - and the deal looks even better.

Hmm...I just e-mailed him and he responded within a couple minutes. I only asked if he still had it for sale though. Answer was: yes.

Yeah, true, but I do have a little more faith in something coming from the Laguna Hills area, there really are a lot of rich family's and kids out there so a deal like this really wouldn't surprise me.

Ive stated before that every time i hear about Fermi I think of Furbi. So its a good idea to add that...kinda.

being the parents I would be pissed to have spent $3800+ on (old hardware/alienware) a computer to have the recipient just quick sell it off @ half price.

Puzzles me why he doesn't just tell his parents he doesn't need it, return it, suck up the 10% or 15% restock fee, and end up with more money than he would by selling it?

it is true, alienware cases are NOT for overclockers. the air-flow and design are rubbish if you are interested in keeping temps down. i say this from owning one myself.

however, you can't argue that this is a fantastic deal if you just look at the parts involved. i would kill for that cpu. plus, you can always gut the pc and get your own case.

Its at 3.83 because thats what Alienware OCs it to (pretty damn low if you ask me any of us). I'm offering him a Nikon 24-70, lets see if he bites... If he does, that lens is only worth like 1450, and then I'll part out the computer and buy another 24-70!
