I don't think it matters. I probably used a CD when I flashed my M4 to 0009.

 

CD, DVD, or even flash drive all work fine

 

sounds good....another question...I know you connect using sata 3 cables which I have but the other connection, I believe is the power connection..Well on my comp I have 3 that are labled SATA but im not sure there are anymore...what is the second connection

 

How do you update firmware? Could somebody help me or provide tutorial.

How to update M4 firmware via CD:

1. Have your SATA mode set to AHCI or IDE.
2. Download 0309 firmware here: http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx
3. Burn the .iso to a CD.
4. Boot from the CD.
5. Type "yes" when prompted to.
6. Wait for it to complete.
7. When complete turn the PC off.
8. Turn said PC back on.
9. Boot from SSD.
10. Enjoy your updated Crucial M4.

How to update M4 firmware via USB:

1. Have your SATA mode set to AHCI or IDE.
2. Download 0309 firmware here: http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx
3. Download and run this: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
4. Select "Try Unlisted Linux ISO (New Syslinux)
5. Browse to your Crucial SSD .ISO-file
6. Select your USB drive
7. If your USB drive is not formatted (Fat32) check the box
8. Click "Create"
9. Click "Ok"
10. Reboot from the USB
11. Type "yes" when prompted to.
12. Wait for it to complete.
13. When complete turn the PC off.
14. Turn said PC back on.
15. Boot from SSD.
16. Enjoy your updated Crucial M4.

 

When do you get the ssd?? I got mine last week and it already had the 009 firmware on it. You can look at the sticker and it will tell you.

Only asking because you may not have to update

The newest is 0309...I think you may want to update yourself.

i dont think 009 and 0309 are the same thing...

I had to turn my AHCI off to IDE for it to actually find my SSD.

I would say 9mm since mine is the CT128M4SSD1 and its 7mm and this http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT128M4SSD2 says its the 9mm version

Oh and you should throw up some benchmarks for it since I dont have Sata3 ports so Im interested in see how good it does when not held back
