Extra power cable needed?

Hello,

I am about to order some custom CableMod cables for my ASUS B550-F motherboard and I am just wondering if an 8 pin EPS cable is enough or if I should also get an extra 6 pin, which this specific motherboard has? I'm aware that an 8 pin is enough, but seeing as ordering custom cables, I'm sort of wandering about wether to buy it or not, if it's REALLY necessary?

What do you guys say about this?...

Thanks,
Dawelio

answered your own question, no?

Really? Do you have any sources that back your claims? Seeing as I’ve never heard of this before and I’ve never personally had any issues with their cables. Except for one time where the 24 pin arrived with one pin loose, although they replaced that one quickly with a solid one.

One 8-pin EPS12V power connector on a motherboard can supply 384W to the CPU. So yeah, unless you plan to be doing some very extreme overclocking (like the kind that absolutely requires LN2), then the single 8-pin is more than enough. Again, it can supply 384W to the CPU.

By the way, I love your choice of motherboard. I have the same one! :) My CPU is the Ryzen 7 5800X.

Oh good to know, thanks a lot for the highly informative information. Didn't know how much juice that single 8 pin EPS cable could provide, rather impressive come to think of it! :)

And no, I'm simply using an 3700X and at stock. Seeing as overclocking isn't for me and Ryzen does it well enough on it's own. Might potentially get an 5600X or 5900X down the line, if I ever get the itch to and they are in stock. But for now, my 3700X is more than enough for my current needs.

Lastly, I recently got this motherboard. I had the X470-F previously, but the massive I/O heatsink cover is massive and was literally annoying my head in. So I just got this motherboard and it looks so much nicer. Especially liking that the ROG logo/eye can be light up when the PC is off. Making it look a bit nicer in my opinion. I also really like that this motherboard has no extra lights of any kind, the X470-F had an power LED, which was always on to indicate that the motherboard had power, even when off. Which was annoying. Really liking this board so far - and having the potential of upgrading to newer architecture down the line if ever needing it :)
