The NZXT Phantom has removable drive cages. The bottom one with screws and the main one has to have the rivets removed, but it does come out pretty easily.

Most video cards will fit in the phantom though without taking out the drive cages.

 

If you can push for a little more budget, The coolerMaster HAF-X. Also has hard drive hot swap bay and easy HDD tooless design install.

I have looked at the Phantom and Haf-X before but didn't realise they had removable cages. Wouldn't removing rivets effect the strength of the Phantom?

Re: Haf-x.. from what I've read, the cutout for the cpu backplate is quite small on the case, that would be an issue for me I think. It's also a bit too bold a design for me.

Any other ones?

Here's a few shots of my Phantom with the main HDD cage removed, smaller one in place. The case has suffered no structural warping or instability whatsoever by removing the large case, as the rivets you remove are solely purposed for holding the HDD cage in place and bear no weight of other parts. The airflow benefits are fantastic.

Removing it was an easy task with a drill.

haha, of course we are going to suggest our own case when it will work for what you want.
I personally don't like the hafX because it is too busy. But either case would work for you.
The phantom is more of a stylized case, while the hafX is more of a military styled case.

 

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't go around suggesting someone buy a case I have no experience with.

That's the beauty of a forum like this, lots of different persepctives.

In terms of functionality the Haf x and Phantom are very close, but couldn't be more different aesthetically. The Haf is like a tank trundling across your desk sucking in any unassuming insect within reach, and the Phantom is a sporty, smooth-lined Ferrari gliding through your mancave. Both are lovely cases in my opinion, so it's important that you find one that is aesthetically pleasing to your eye.

He nailed it. That is exactly right. Either case will be amazing, so pick the one you like the best.
