i think i had one of these in an old computer i had (well it was an s3 card anyway)

basiclly dont bother if the computer doesnt have a sound card like mine did. so many games require it. they simply refused to install

heres a list anyway,

wolf 3d
doom
duke nukem 3d
quake (suggested before)
half-life (it would probbly only work in software mode and if the cpu is good enough)
most games that dont need graphics cards like lemmings
mabie a few old worms2 based games.
wiki says that there are ViRGE-enhanced versions of Terminal Velocity, Descent II, Tomb Raider and MechWarrior 2.

and like i said before, anything that doesnt touch the gpu much should be fine

what is the spec of the pc itself. im guessing around pentium 2 ish mabie.

oh and here is a qoute from the wiki page on it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_ViRGE

Quote:
the ViRGE earned the unofficial title as the world's first "graphics decelerator" due to its abysmal 3D performance. While the ViRGE could render basic 3D scenes faster than host-CPU based software rendering, turning on features such as bilinear filtering and Z-depth fogging caused the card to slow down to the point where software-rendering would outrun the ViRGE. To this extent, the practical feature set of the ViRGE range was extremely limited.
if you want to play vintage games on a vintage computer, take a look into the voodoo cards.

Try Quake, Starcraft, or Unreal Tournament
Wow you don't have a clue do you?

Run diablo 1.

Save the card and add it to your testing bench.

EDIT: Argh, meant Unreal, not Unreal Tournament.
Don't get your knowledge from wiki. It's wrong. And it makes you look dumb.

Also if you actually read the wiki instead taking a snippit you would see the different revisions span 3 or 4 years which in vid cards is Unparalleled!

The original S3 virge was the best card of it's day if not the best of all time.

The DX,GX and VX (and might be more I can't remeber) were all failed attempts to capitalize on the original.

I'd fix the wiki but I don't paid get to fix misinformation machines. And tell your teachers not to use wiki of their arguments because they will learn the hard way it is not dependable.

??? doom only goes to 640X480 IIRC, It should handle that. you may want to tweak the system. also doom2 should run.

Oh look, user reviews. There's a bunch of people criticizing the card's speed, and oh look, there's a person saying that he can run Unreal Tournament with it. Hmm.
