I sold some guy in the netherland's my super.fi IEM's.

when he got them, he said that one wire in snapped, and the other headphone driver is broken :[. i stated as is, in very good condition, and now he's upset that one of them is bust.

i'm afraid he's gonna sic paypal after me. should i be worried?
i told him i can refund him like 10$ or send him the reciept to have
super.fi handle it, does that seem fair? i knew something like this would
happen if i mailed to another country. i've had lots of sales before
and never an issue like this. any help would be great! thanks.

tell him to send it back to you, and if it isnt broken, keep them and sell them in the states. also tell him to send you a picture.

Really it's up to you. Make a good faith effort to do what you can; as-is is as-is. caveat emptor.

My first thoughts, I used to deal on e-bay a lot after several high end things ended up coming back to me broken, I started taking a pen with ink that only shows up under UV light and write my initials on the item somewhere safe, and take a picture of the placement of the initials on the item. So if anything arose and they wanted a refund (no shipping insurance) I'd offer to take it back, check for the initials, if not, Id file a complaint. And usually try to scare them with filing a "mail fraud" lawsuit...sometimes it would work...sometimes they were smart enough to ignore my emails.

TBH, the only thing you can do in your situation is tell him to "piss off" if you sold them as-is. Refund his money AFTER he send the item back, offer to cover any charges to have them repaired.

OK stall for 30 days and then unlink it. If he starts whining to ebay they are gonna freeze your account.

People like you are why I don't use ebay. As the seller, it is your responsibility to insure that the product reaches it's destination safely, or if it doesn't to refund the buyer.

Unlinking your paypal account to avoid having to pay a refund would be very illegal.

Buyers like the one this guy is having to deal with is why I dont sell stuff on ebay. Ebay doesnt respect the sellers no return policy. As a result the seller gets screwed becuase of the scamming buyer.

Offering the receipt and having him work with super.fi sounds like the best route. Reiterate to him that they were sold as-is and in working condition when you shipped them. Anything after the transaction is done is between him and the manufacturer.

Random broken as-is eBay anecdote:

Before I built my current rig, I had an old AMD rig with a Barton 2000+. I found a used Barton 2500+ CPU on ebay for about $40 so I went ahead and bought it. The CPU was sold as-is and arrived DOA - it wouldn't even post.

So, I emailed the seller and he reminded me that I took the risk by buying an untested as-is CPU. But he said that he was sorry I received a DOA one and offered me a 10% refund. That seemed fair to me because, after all, I did buy it as-is and a 10% refund was above and beyond. Maybe I'm just a nice, responsible guy....but when you buy something as-is, you take that risk.

The buyer is from the Netherlands?

I could pay him a visit

Anyway, this sounds quite complicated. It could indeed be shipping damage...

Regards,

Looks like everything is gonna go good, I will mail him the reciept and make sure he knows its as-is. I did ask him how he wanted to ship, and he said my shipping was fine. He sent a pic, and they look a bit loose at the seem. Thanks for all those who helped! reps+!

edit: the headphones were worht 70, i sold them for 40 insurance via USPS would have been pricey and shipping via UPS would have been hell.

Sorry this happened.
It is one of the reasons I charge a bit more for shipping, because I include insurance on any item I ship.
As for e-bay/ paypal protecting only the buyer, that is crap. I have gotten screwed 2 times by a seller selling me something different than what was described.

Personally, I would tell the buyer your sorry it was damaged during shipping, but if they did not purchace insurance, then they need to file a claim with the shipper. If need be, it will go through e-bay and paypal resolution, you may win, you may not.

Tell the buyer the he can return the headphones to you for a refund. If they were in mint shape and you got insurance you can file a claim with your shipper and they'll go pick up the headphones and give you money for them to refund the guy
