Hi guys!

I have a Brother HL-2270DW Printer. The link to it is below.

http://www.brother-usa.com/Printer/ModelDetail/1/HL2270DW/Overview#.VJ7kJf8Czc

As said in the title, there are horizontal white streaks, or blank streaks on my printout. I have been using this printer for a few years now and it has been working fine.

The printer does not indicate that i need to replace the Drum Unit. What could be the cause? Before i replace the drum unit, i want to make sure that it is the faulty part in the first place.

In addition to this, is it alright to buy those non original but compatible drum units such as this?

Thanks guys.

While reading it, is there anyway i can clean the drum unit? Microfibre cloth + isopropyl alcohol? Or any other way?

Thanks.

Microfiber cloth and isopropyl should be fine. I used to clean a lot of laser printers (years ago) with those little alcohol prep pads. My wife is a nurse and was always bringing them home in her pockets. You may come across some plastic gears with grease on them, don't clean them. Loose toner can be sucked up with a vacuum cleaner. If you get any toner on your clothes wash them in cold, not hot water, or it will stick. Good luck...
