Motherboard: Asus Prime z790-a wifi (not my first choice but it was available)
CPU: i7 13700k
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x32Gb 5200mhz 40CL
Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1 Tb / 2tb D:
Graphics: Gigabyte 3070ti Aorus elite
windows11 pro 22h2

is this normal? I can't get the ram to run full speed with this motherboard without crashing BSOD Memory issues. 5000mhz is all I can set in Bios / stable.

Temps and HWiNFO64 data while running cinbench:

BIOS version? I ran 7000MT/s on that same board.
If not the latest, update to 0802 and try again.

BTW what cooler do you have? 101C is a little alarming for a a 13700K..

Your CPU is throttling/overheating because your cooling needs to be remounted

Try 1.1 VCCSA or at least 1.0
0.816v seems off in the readings....

Try 1.26-1.35 CPU VDDQ

try 1.28 vdd, 1.28vddq

Here's 0802

Highly unlikely he needs more than .9v VCCSA/ or >1.25 CPU VDDQ at 5200MT/s

Check what mem you got with cpu-z, i'm afraid is not even m-die.

When you say you cannot get the RAM to post correctly, do you mean that you are not able to set an XMP profile for its rated speed? Have you tried setting the memory up manually?

What is the exact part/model number for the RAM kit?

Edit: the QVL for the motherboard lists Dominator memory kits at 5200 -- not sure if it matters or not, but you might not have supported/tested memory for this motherboard.

Yes 5600 m die kits seem to be the best for the price currently, though I've only looked at 2x16 pricing.

2 dimm board, if you don't need the extra slots theres the MSI and Asus ITX options,

The MSI one has 3 x M.2 slots too, just that they both only have a single PCI-E slot for the GPUs, also Arctic AIO mounts won't fit on most ITX boards.

Hi All,

Well, the new MOBO works with both A and B channels woot!

All is running great but the XMP profile on the mobo/chips is really unstable. I am no overclocking expert and RAM was never my thing, Does anyone know what timings I should set to get the KF556C40BBK2-64 kit to work with this Asus Prime Z790-a wifi board? Asus support is useless.

I found the timings 40-40-40-80-135 for 5600mhz, but I can't find the tRC setting in the bios.

I traded out the micron kit for Kingston fury; they said they were m-die on the sheet but they are actually sk Hynix,

my mobo is the prime series :( I can't use those yet. I do have the latest already installed though.

Ok a few days into these settings for XMP1, and I keep getting BSOD and random crashes. Really seems like the ram timings need to be tweaked in the bios. XMP1 is not working to spec. Mem diagnostics says there are errors when running in XMP1 (5600mhz) but not when running default JDEC settings at 4800mhz.
