Hey folks.

I am thinking of getting a 2500k or 3570k cpu and and compatible motherboard.

i already have sata and pata hard drives.

i currently run a 4 active partition multi boot hard drive with windows me on c: partition and xp on d: and e: = emergency xp and data and windows 7 on F: on a pata/ide hard drive connected to a ECM MSI 482 -M motherboard which has 2 ide ports and 4 sata ports.

This allows a set up of 4 pata/ide drives using the ribbon cables and 4 sata hard drives=8 total.

This setup allows amazing flexibility.

i would like to preserve such a set up on a intel socket 1155 motherboard and i was wandering if anyone knows of a socket 1155 motherboard which still has 2 ide/pata ports and a further 4 sata ports as I would like to import my old arrangement with core i5 cpu such as a 2500 k or 3570k as currently on a amd 3200+ cpu with 2 gig ram.

works great but i would like it faster as struggles to play 4 youtube videos at the same time....

I have checked Amazon and it's hard to find any at all except for this above which appears to be a single ide port on the left hand side although i can't really be sure as no mention made in the description...

You are going to be hard pressed to find any 1155 board with onboard IDE as it is a connector that has been discontinued. Your best bet is a cheap add in card such as this one >http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSL-Express-SATAII-interface-controller/dp/B00MOHHR12/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420563140&sr=8-3&keywords=ide+pci
any 1155 board you do find with IDE is likely going to be of cheaper quality/budget
Better off to get the board you want and get an add in card to support the IDE. or the obvious alternative to just get more with the times and transfer your data from the IDE hdd to a sata hard drive before you upgrade.

Good find although 2 gripes
1. only 1 IDE port, OP is looking for 2. solution?: add in card
2. He had linked amazon.co.uk, that board is in florida and will likely cost more than its worth to ship overseas.

3rd bonus grip, you had stated the reviews are mixed, hinting at the confirmation of my statement that the quality of such boards could be questionable.

good find either way though. I have 0 experience with foxconn

What about the Amazon board above though? Does it have an ide connector? Has anyone actually bought it or touched it to confirm it.I am not bothered by reviews as theycan be misleading as defective board customers are more likely to vent their spleen then satisfied consumers.

I don't know anything about Foxconn apart from the fact they treat their workers like slaves.

sorry to disappoint you, the board you linked in post 1 is a floppy connector and NOT IDE.
spec page> http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z68MUSB3/?cat=Specifications

still leaning towards add in card(s) in my opinion.

Would I still be able to install Windows Me on the first partition as explained above and xp on the d partition and so on ,making it multiboot as above and would it boot from a PCI IDE card?

Has anyone tried it

Is it true that someone managed to run windows 95 on it on a modern motherboard?
