Is this Cinebench score normal for 7700x + 240 aio?

Hi all,

Firstly, yes I know Zen4 will target 95C. I'm not concerned about that at all.

I just got a 7700x and I'm a little concerned about my cinebench r23 scores. I'm using an NZXT Z53 240mm aio, as it was the only thing I could purchase on short notice that would have arrived in a reasonable time.

On a good day, on a fresh cold boot-up, and even with the side panel off the PC, I can max out around 19,300 in r23 multi-thread. My CPU draws over 140 watts for a little bit, but will eventually settle around 135w for the whole run. I consistently get under 19.350 every time. Subsequent heat-soaked attempts will have me under 19,000. Instead of easily sustaining 5.100+ GHz on all cores like many users, I'm closer to 5.075 GHz the majority of the time.

Is this perfectly normal performance for a 240mm aio? I see some results claiming higher scores on air coolers, and I understand the majority of journalists and people in general are benchmarking these with 360mm aio's, seemingly easily hitting 19,600-20,000 on r23 all the time.

I know this is a small difference in the grand scheme of things, but when mounting/dismounting the cooler multiple times, it seems like the spread of the thermal paste on the cold plate indicates that the cold plate isn't all that flat, compared to an ek aio that I tried earlier (which was defective, didn't get a chance to benchmark that).

Am I just being picky? Is this acceptable performance for a 240mm paired with a 7700x? Or should I seek a return or exchange?

Thanks

Seems fine to me, remember journalists use open air test benches which almost always beat a enclosed system. You can use PBO, Curve Optimizer to get better results. If you wanted to take it a step further you could try a small negative voltage offset, typically in the range of -0.005 V - 0.05 V.

Not sure what mb you have I have msi b650 carbon 7700x
In the bios you should have pbo. set negative -23 or so to start most do that test cb23 and games.
It will uv for you and give longer sustained boost. If you have scalar option in bios also that will help as well longer boost 2 0r 3x to start and add extra 200mhz boost on top of 5.5 if option is their.
open hw info while testing to see boost clocks
