Lag in any browser

Hey.

So one day my pc decided to start suffering from lag with browsers ( just few second pauses or not responsive ) , please note I don't have any issues with anything else ( no lag in gaming or music/video etc etc ) . Gave up trying to fix it and presumed it was just some random thing that would go away with a fresh install of windows.

Just finished formatting and installing, download chrome and opera and both are still having the same issues.

I have absolutely no idea what could possibly be causing this and its driving me insane. Any ideas would be great, i tried reddit but no answer

Have you monitored your task manager during the periods of lag? That way you can see if it is the browser pegging CPU usage, high memory usage, and if it is even the browser process or an underlying service (windows update service background process is notorious for random hits to system performance).

Last time this happened to me, it was due to a memory leak in Opera that would cause it to use every last bit of available RAM. Since you say it is also happening on a fresh install, that makes things a bit more tricky since it eliminates things like plug-ins or add-ons being the issue. Are your video drivers up to date? Did you try with disabled hardware acceleration in browser?
