Left4Dead serious lagspikes

Hello
Ever since i got my new radeon 4760 card left4dead has been lagging like hell .
Every second theres a big lag , making the game IMPOSSIBLE to play!
I installed new windows because old ones were corrupted , but on old ones , with my HD 2600 card i could play the game perfectly , without single lag!
But when i got my new card , it lagged like hell (on old windows aswell) .
So ok i tried to switch back to my 2600 card ( thinking my 4760 card is broken or something ) but i get the same damn lagspikes as on 4760!
I really have NO ideas what is the cause of this!
I did recently flashed my BIOS from 1.50 ver to 1.70 , but that shouldn't be a prob ?
Also i lag on game called Anarchy Online just like in left4dead , while other games like ( NFS undercover and CoD4 works ok but with some lag spikes every 1 minute or so [only small lagspikes , like 0.5sec ones] )
Please advise , i'm going insane here!
+I did install new catalyst drivers 8.11 and earlier ones 8.9 ( which worked fine for those games ) , but on 8.9 i got same things

did you install anything else on your OS, around the same time you switched cards?

do you use skype?

This happens when i get into game menu , SP or MP , doesn't matter ! Everything just lags.
my PSU is 400W , but it is just about fine to run my system (maybe not 4670 card but 2600 definitely)
Memory is just fine , about 300,000kb (or something like that) used not even used 1/8 of my available RAM (3gb DDR2) , cpu is like 40-50% utilization so i guess thats fine.
On my old XP , 2600 worked awesome with games , had NO probs at all. But ever since i switched to 4670 and new 8.11 catalyst's it started to lag like that . Thought it was card broken , but seems like not..
Only thing i did in between was flash my BIOS .
Btw , fallout3 on load screen just freezes. (worked fine with oldxp/card)

Out of curiosity, do you know the exact make/model of your PSU?

Another thought. I'm not totally sure, but there may be setting in your BIOS to change the master PCI-E lane to 1x/4x/8x/16x. If so, make sure it's set to 16x.

One more suggestion. Try a hard-reset of your BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery on your board. Move the CMOS jumper to clear, then back to its original position. Replace the battery and boot.

I'm just trying to think of anything that may help...

I'll check that stuff in BIOS for PCI-E lane . I did cleared my CMOS when i tried to lower my CPU voltage (as it failed to boot) .
And I don't really think its the PSU , as EVERYTHING worked great before i bought this new 4670 card ( maybe its cursed , who knows )
Also if u might haven't noticed , i switched BACK to my old 2600 card , so psu shud be fine.
+ I really appreciate u trying to help , u don't know how much i'm pissed off right now because of those issues!

I've read the label on my PSU , says frontier technologies.
Also i checked in bios for that PCI-E thingy , but havent found anything
Although , i did found Auto disable PCI-E Frequency which was enabled , dunno if that should be enabled..
+ when i boot my windows i get a message : VBIOS: Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error

Take a look at this. It may provide some insight on the VBIOS error issue:

You need to disable the MSI Live Update software when Windows start up if you do not want to continue to see those error messages.

Logon with your admin account, right click on the MSI Live Update icon, choose "Preference".
choose the "Configuration" option and uncheck "Launch Live Monitor when windows start up"
click Apply and Accept these changes.

That should eliminate the error messages when the limited user signs-on but since you are disabling the check for updates service you will need to check for MSI updates manually.

I'm not sure if that will fix the lag issues you're experiencing though.

I'm afraid i dont have MSI Live update icon , or anything related installed to my new XP( i did have it on prev. XP )
Also , should i be worried about auto disable PCI-E Frequency (enabled) in my BIOS?

I doubt that theres actually a program that causes me to lag , as on old XP , when i put my new 4670 card in , i got the same lag in l4d as i get now with my 2600 (and 4670) on NEW windows!

I believe the PCI-E frequency (or spread spectrum) you can usually set it to an "auto" or "enabled" (or something like that), or in 1MHz increments above or below 100MHz. I'd just set it to 100MHz and keep it there. That's what I always do.

I've just read this :
The X2 CPU doesn't support 4 sticks of memory at DDR800, only 2.
I've got 3 sticks of 1GB (ddr2) DDR800 memory . Could that be the problem?
Please note that i've used 3gb's forever now and haven't had ANY problems with it untill i bought the new card , i could try removing one , if that is true!

It's kind of odd that the problem would pop up right now, but yes, I would still definitely try removing one of your DIMMS - just to rule that out. Run 2 matching DIMMS in the appropriate dual channel slots and give 'er a go.

Ok will do .
But , lately today when i've played another game , my screen just went black and pc froze , had to restart.
I just checked event viewer , and i THINK it was at 21:35 (as my event viewer reports error there) that my pc freezed.
This is what error says :
\\??\\C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSI\\DualCoreCenter\\FLASHSYS.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.
The FLASHSYS service failed to start due to the following error:
This driver has been blocked from loading

Now i'm not quite sure it happened right there , but thats the only error report i get from the time between when my PC froze!

Omg , just removed one stick !
Seems like its working! Played left4dead for a few minutes without those lag spikes , gonna try another game (where i had lag spikes aswell) and will get back to u guys.
Also , if this is true , then WHY? How could the RAM be the problem if they worked before perfectly?

The MSI DualCoreCenter is a hardware monitor tool that comes with motherboard.

I believe the Flashsys service could be a part of MSI Live update, another motherboard utility that actively detects driver and BIOS updates.

I'm not really sure, but it's possible they could be interfering with normal operation. I would at least temporarily disable them (if they're not absolutely necessary), and see if that helps.

EDIT: Fixed the link, sorry.

Sounds like it is time to slog through the registry and remove all MSI entrys. Also, did you use drivercleaner before you installed the new card and new drivers? Conflicting drivers = not happy computer. And no, uninstalling the drivers isn't enough.
