Logitech G510, keys must be pressed very hard to register.

Hi all, just got a Logitech G510 from ebay, and at first I thought it was great. Then I started a game, and tried to move.

To make a long story short, I must press the keys down very hard to get them to work. This is fine for typing, since I always bottom them out when I type, but for gaming it's horrible.

If I'm not actively holding down every key of the WASD that I want to use, they will stop working. The slightest reduction in pressure causes them to stop, and I can't even feel ANY leeway whatsoever between being bottomed-out and the point at which they register as not pressed. Is this a common behavior for the G510? I would expect more from Logitech.

Anyway, this is a sign of the keyboard wearing out.
Thanks, edited that part out.

Mine is a refurb, but this happens on every key....they always have to bottomed out to work. Disappointing, now I get to pay return shipping

Well, wait. Did you buy this from an actual store on eBay? I mean, maybe you can tell them the truth about it arriving like this. I mean, it's not like you broke it. I think that when a store sells something in this kind of a condition that they should pay for return shipping and not charge you any extra money for anything. Essentially, I think it's "defective".

Yeah, I'm going to try to get them to pay for my shipping, but if they decide not to there's really nothing I can do since the listing specified it that way. What kind of sucks the most is going for so long on my old OEM dell one, and finally getting this thing to find almost everything is worse.

Thanks for confirming. Time to package it up again

I recommend saying that every key has the same problem, therefore it has to be defective. I know that it's refurbished, but it should feel brand new.

This.

Ripster, this is why I'm recommending an RMA with a claim that this refurbished keyboard is "defective". Every single key is the same: they all require much more force for actuation than they ought to. Therefore, something went wrong during the refurbishing process which makes this a defective refurbished keyboard.

Update: Decided to go for a new one instead, and I managed to find a sale at Best Buy for $5 less than the best online price. The keys are much better, they do have a bit of leeway where they won't register, but it's no longer a problem for gaming or anything else. I still enjoy the linear feel of the keys, glad I stuck with the same one.

To get on this old thread I got to say that the G510 keyboard has issues. I've googled and searched around and I found numerous reports that the keys are hard to press and not responsive. I can personally second that opinion. It sucks as a keyboard. The only fix they had was a firmware update that eased the symptoms but did not solve it 100%. When gaming I find that the key strokes overload the buffer and I loose control of what direction I'm going. I just plugged in my old Keytronic ps/2 mechanical keyboard in its place to troubleshoot an occasional delay I get typing in forums. So far so good. Very responsive. I also doubt doing an RMA is going to do anything.

Thanks.
