Metro 2033 Cheat Woes

I'm ashamed to admit that though I like Metro 2033, I will only really play through it if I have God mode on and unlimited ammo and money..
I'm not usually like this but I don't know, I just want this for this game. Perhaps someone here can help.

I've set "g_god" and "g_unlimitedammo" to "on" in all the CFG files I could find but at least the unlimited ammo doesn't seem to do anything. I tried every trainer I could find, patched and original. The patched are the correct ones to use but even then, Metro 2033 crashes completely when I use the "unlimited ammo/money" function of each and every trainer. It's frustrating!

Anyone?

Hehe fair enough. In either case I got it all working in the end. I find some games are fun enough to just play through regardless, others not so much. I like Metro 2033 but I have a feeling I only really like it because of its graphics and the fact that I paid £24.99 for it. Cheats will just push me to play through it. Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way but there you go!

Ah that takes the fun out of it, unless you keep getting killed over and over again and it just becomes a frustrating mess.

I only use cheats when I get super frustrated with a level and after I pass that part I turn them off. Except when I'm getting bored of a game and just want to finish it.

It seems to me you should be playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure or a popcap game instead

After you edit it, make sure the file is set to Read-Only.
I've got a trainer working now, but I re-installed the game beforehand. I think the issue was that I was enabling "no reload" from the trainer's functions, which just made the game crash whenever I was using a shotgun or sniper rifle. I'm not using that function now and magically the trainer works..

This is an interesting point though. If you set it to read-only, does it force the game to use whatever you put in this file?
I have been trying to disable Anti-Aliasing (g_supersampling) but it seems that when I run the game, it turns it back on due to my options being set to Very High. Perhaps if I set it to read-only, I circumvent this problem altogether. My thinking is that if I disable Anti-Aliasing, I can perhaps compensate for the extra FPS by re-enabling DirectX 11 Advanced DoF.

I rarely cheat in games but I feel like I won't play through this if I don't. I guess I don't like it too much. Weapons, enemies and violence overall needs more "umph". Graphics are great though!

Haha yeah, I cheated the crap out of that game. I really enjoyed it though. Got very frustrated with the lack of bottle caps and ammo.

I very rarely use chats, they ruin the game for me as well. I have been stuck on the same save point inn Metro 2033 for almost 4 hours. I am out of air filters and there just isnt another one close enough for me to survive. I am wanting to enable god mode until i get some damn air filters, then set it back to normal. the only other option is to start the game over, and i dont want to do that. How did you get god mode to finally work? I have set the user file and saved but it still doesnt work.

Disable Steam cloud for Metro 2033 in Steam.

Make your changes to the user.cfg file, located in Steam > Userdata > *long number* > 43110 > Remote.

Then set it to read only.

Cheats should now work.

Sometimes being able to cheat in games extends the replay value for me. For example, Dark Souls. I beat it the first few times legit, but just wanted to make some PVP builds to kill other players, and skip all the grinding involved.

And then there are other games like Borderlands 2 that are such a massive grind, that I'd rather just get all the ultimate weapons so I can have a last bit of fun blowing stuff to pieces before I finally put the game down.

I don't cheat games because they are difficult, but because they are grindy. I'm all up for a challenge, but I'm not up for a grind.

I know and I hate to do it. I have restarted the game twice and reloaded previous saves 3 times as well. Each time I find new caches of goodies, but I always run out of filters by the time I hit D9 no matter how many more I buy or find. I dont want to use god mode at all, but I have looked this room over probably 100+ times and there is absolutely no way. I made it all the way through the library and archives on my last filter. Literally, I would be moments away from death when I would find another filter through that whole section of Chapter 6. If I can make it out of this room I'm good.
