CPU-NB tolerance is about the same as the CPU on a good motherboard and good aircooling. Unfortunately that is not a very good motherboard for overclocking high TDP processors on and that is not a very good CPU cooler either. Overclocking NB/adding CPU-NB voltage adds to CPU heat and TDP as well.

Hmmmm I will keep tabs on my temps as always, at the moment they're quite low and I feel a small voltage & mhz CPU-NB increase won't hurt. I'm just wondering why this BIOS marks the voltage as unsafe when it's quite low.

So I am correct in thinking the CPU-NB voltage can go beyond this and even higher?

Lol I know...... It's a budget rig, I'm gunna hold out upgrading until bulldozer is out.

My temps are ok however, VRM/CPU/MOBO. I would of just increased the voltage but the BIOS made me cautious.

From what I have gathered the CPU-NB voltage is still very low on my mobo so I may just increase it to 1.24v-1.25v and see if I can get stable with 2.8ghz CPU-NB, with low temps of course.

 

@superste2201 - would you mind sharing your OC settings? I have the same motherboard and I currently have my X2 560 with 3 unlocked cores overclocked to 3.7. I have a 120mm fan blowing on the NB heatsink and the MOSFETs. My temps are quite good with my NB temps at 29-31C (yes I know that I need to be cautious with this board). If you could share all of you OC settings I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I have two OC 565 unlocked four cores on G54 both air cooled.

1st board = Stable at 4.1

VCore - 1.4375V
Idle Temp - 33C
Load (OCCT) - 56C

2nd Board = 4,2 Not stable at 4.2 yet
Vcore - 1.4425V
Idle Temp - 34C
Load (OCCT) - 57C
Does not pass Prime yet for 24 hours

 

4 cores on a G54 is a very very bad idea.
Those VRMs far from capable of handling 4 cores ESPECIALLY with that much of an OC
You should back it down now before some serious consequences! Many failures have occured on that particular board - at least two having hit OCN members with the same board who haven't listened to me.
