I'm looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse combo that will work on any Windows 7 system without a driver install. Do Logitech keyboards require drivers to have the basic functionality or does it work once it's plugged in?

I have a wireless Microsoft mouse for my laptop and I can switch it over to other laptops on the spot without drivers. This convenience is something I can't give up!

I'm currently looking at the Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000. BlueTrack and good reviews makes it a solid contender

Keyboard and mice do not require any drivers for basic functionality so wireless should be the same.. the only time software is required is for any special features they might have.

Correct.

Any keyboard/mouse you connect to Windows 7 will work right away. 7 installs the drivers that have code that all typical generic keyboards/mice use. The only reason you ever need to download extra stuff from MS/Logitech/etc. is to use things like the special shortcuts and volume knobs on keyboards.
