I have gotten very high desktop and idle power consumption with the latest preview drivers, 60w-80w. Only one screen, 4k@120Hz
Think that's too high, not that it matters too much but still.

Also i hope they can improve the performance in games that use the UE5 game engine and also ray tracing.

They fixed that with drivers last month? do you mean the idle issue is back?

Just ordered a programmer. I'm going to flash the Aqua bios.

What is safe max temp to run it? At 447w I hit 84C hotspot/junction, and cpu max is 64C.

I'm thinking I shouldn't let it go over 95C, which is what the hotspot would hit at stock power before repaste.

How does one fix the idle issue? My monitor is 165Hz and my idle power is 51W. I tried lower the HZ to 100, still same watts even at 60hz. How does one get it to lower wattage?
Some program running in the background will not let the VRAM sleep, I have 10-16Watt with open browser ( 175Hz ).

My 7900XT Gigabyte Ref Model idles at 46 Watts with HDR on and at 10 Watts with HDR off on 42' LG C2

Yeah, it was the Corsair iCUE software running in the background. It sucks that now I have no control of the RGB for my memory.

But I went from 909 VRAM / 60 W to 81 VRAM 28 W with 165Hz. Thanks!
Try using openRGB instead

Thanks to all that recommended putting on PTM 7950. I did buy it off of Amazon from Joyjom because I did not want to wait. Previously I had hotspots (while OC'd at power +15%) between 103-108c and avg temps of 67-70c.

Just after my first benchmark run through it's down to hotspots of 93c max and avg temps of 62-66c. So I'm super happy with the results. I've even noticed a slight bump in performance in FPS too. Supposedly it gets even better as time goes on as it heat cycles too right?

Complete PITA to teardown a Taichi though. Took me 3 hours, never want to do that again. Looked like it had quite a bit of pumpout surrounding the die as I had to clean it up with qtips.

Folks, this is the status of my Asrock Phantom OC 7900 XTX right now. Hotspot has worsened since it was new in August, looks like I need to do something, and here in Norway it looks like Heilos is the best way to go.

Fortnite BR Zero Build, ca 100 fps ('max' settings), uncapped, squad unranked, GPU FAN control on default/auto (55-56%)
GPU temp 69-70C
Junction temp 92-94C
Hotspot temp 103-105C
GPU clock at about 2865-3000 MHz
Watt 386-390
CPU usage @ 35-52%
GPU usage @ 97%

Temp in room is about 21-22C.

Some people here in Norway had some problems with Cryosheet, why I am leaning towards this:
Thermalright Heilos Thermal Pad for AMD CPU - Termisk plate | Billig (proshop.no)

3 Hours? How?!?!? lol

I bought PTM7950 here:
FackLOxc 1 stuk PTM7950 thermische pad,Laptop faseverandering siliconen vetkussen,CPU GPU thermische geleidende pasta patch : Amazon.nl: Elektronica

Seems to be the real one, at least it works great on my card.

Im on a 7800xt NITRO+. Can some1 explain in short how does undervolting/overclocking and how these cards behave? I mean core and memory frecuency impact in gaming, and what's the range... (how far can they be pushed)
I tried starting on my own, but even one tick (25mv) on the voltage slider makes it crash in apex.
The end goal is to go down 20% (from 270w to 220/230w) while maintining most performance.......

I also see big delta between GPU core, hotspot and mem junc. As high as 25ÂşC. Techpowerup review reported the same, so it seems to be normal, but i still dont like it very much, as it hits 90ÂşC (ik it's safe). This card uses 1.5mm thickness pads or maybe 2mm if im not wrong. How much of an issue would that be for thermal putty?Âż

I know this is for 7900xt/xtx, but ppl barely answer anywhere else.

Also, why do most things in afterburner do not work? like the fan control or the overclocking controls. Fancontr0l also cant touch the GPU. Is it because of adrenaline?
