Interesting, there are already some confirmed VBIOS out there, and the max power limit seems to be 516W from the Strix LC.

I guess you could just flash that VBIOS in the other cards, right? I think all 3090Ti use the PCI-E 5.0 connector

Good point, all of the cards use the same MP86957 controller for the VRM, and all of them use the same power connector as well. So I would assume you could flash any BIOS you wanted, including any XOC ones.

Watching this thread with curiosity. From the OC results in reviews, it seems these cards are all hitting 2150-2200MHz which I didn't expect considering slightly more cores and also higher heat levels to manage. TechPowerUp was able to hit 24Gbps on memory OC as well if I remember correctly. In memory bandwidth heavy games like Horizon Zero Dawn, this could result in a 10% performance increase even over an overclocked 3090. For most games I'm expecting 5%. If 4090 weren't right around the corner I'd be tempted. Put in a notify for the Kingpin model just in case.

It's really hard to assess the true increase in performance since the manufacturers play games with the power limit. Looks like 5-10% though depending on the game. Reviews showing 10%+ are mostly comparing to a base 350w card. You would think at least one reviewer might equalize power as part of the review, but I guess it's expecting too much for them to write a review for the enthusiast community.

If anyone has or is getting one of these cards, please post a screenshot of the voltage/frequency curve from Afterburner if you can. I'm curious what the base curve looks like. Take the screenshot with the card cooled down at idle as it shifts with temperatures.

I have lost interest with RTX-30 series after having 3080, 3080 Ti and now 3070 Ti Mobile. Part of reason was lack of games apart from just doing 4K to really enjoy these cards.

Looks like this card need the "1200w" bios :D This result is like 3090 with 1000w bios and 15c air cooling.

I have already the 3090 TI STRIX LC OC. The cooler is pretty awesome!

Here you can see my current results. Benchmarking at the moment. Max 45 Degrees with 100% Fan speed

If/when there is a version of NVFlash that works for this card you could flash one of the 516w bios like the Strix. I think right now that's the best that can be done.

Under own risk. Here is the 516W BIOS from the 3090 TI ASUS OC LC


I have played around 1 hour of Cyberpunk with RT and DLSS and reached 51 degrees with 80% Fan Speed

Newegg has cards in stock, Zotac Amp holo and Gigabyte gaming. But without confirmed waterblocks I am hesitant to purchase. EK has confirmed several cards are getting blocks but neither of these are on the list.

edit: seems there is a high likelihood of somebody making a block for the gigabyte 3090 ti gaming so I went ahead and ordered that. If the memory chips were front and back like the 3090 I might have been a bit more hesitant to only get one that has a block supporting active cooling on the back but now it doesn't really matter that much. I hope EK makes a nice block for this card, but I will have to see. Excited to finally have a card that can push my panel at 4k 120hz. I doubt this card will be able to actually push that frame rate on cyberpunk but it will be a lot better than what I am getting on my Titan XP now.

2mOhm shunts? Wow that's new lol

Maybe someone better with resistances and power (P = E*I) can help you there, since most of the time the calculations were made with 5mOhm shunts as base.

Guess it depends on location and which model(s) you are seeking.

Microcenters seem to be getting some in each of the last few days. Both of our MD and PA had EVGA models ($2k and 2.2k) in stock. Went out of stock then back in stock today for the MD then out of stock albeit the Parkville, MD still has three in stock of the 2.2k as I type.

I flashed the Strix 516w vBIOS to my FTW3 Ultra. It works. No sure about long term but I wasn't experiencing any issues with power or locked clocks. Problem is fan controls, so unless going under water it's useless.

EVGA needs to release an updated vBIOS for the FTW3. 480w is less than the 500w the old 3090 FTW3 had which is complete BS.
You mean the fan curve isn't the same? Can't set a custom curve in Afterburner? I had to do that way back when my 3090 was still air cooled when running various other bios.

Very good, I'm looking to make the resistance mod and I want your opinion.

In this image there is a 5 ohm resistor, pcie slot....

In this other one they are 2 ohm.

I want to stack the resistors

The calculation is as follows:
480w default shunt 002 + added shunt 005= 672 new power limit .

Is it necessary to stack a resistor on top of the 5ohm one?

Is this the correct resistor?

Wow... hats off to EVGA for implementing bot protection, I was actually able to get a GPU at MSRP!

Going from an EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080Ti to the EVGA Black Gaming 3090Ti so this should be a nice boost @ 4K.

I assume the FTW Black, Regular and Ultra are all using the same cooler and the only difference is the bin. I took the gamble that I could manually overclock and get the same/similar clocks as the others, not sure it is worth $150-$200 more for 50Mhz.
