Overclock old ps/2 mouse to 200Hz max on comp with no ps/2 port?

Just wondering if it's possible to overclock my old ps/2 mouse to the ps/2 200Hz maximum on a computer with no ps/2 ports? And if so, how to do it. Is it even possible to overclock a ps/2 mouse to its 200Hz max on a computer that does have ps/2 ports, these days, in Windows 10 for example? Way back we used a program called ps2rate to do the overclocking, but that was in Win95 etc.

I only have USB ports on my computer. It was an oversight by me not to purchase a motherboard with ps/2 ports, which I regret. I have purchased an active ps/2-usb adapter that works, but that only gets me to 60Hz. My work computer has a ps/2 port, and I've checked my mouse to see what Hz I can get on that, and I get 100Hz.

The obvious solution is to replace my motherboard to one that has some ps/2 ports but that would be expensive and have me pulling my current stable PC apart which I would prefer not to do, and I don't even know yet if I would be able to achieve 200Hz even if I did.

This is for FPS gaming. Of course I own plenty of modern USB mouse and use them often, just wondering how my old mouse would go in modern FPS--it has a unique shape that afaik has been abandoned by the mouse makers of today.

Some of the ideas I have explored:
  • Buy an active USB-ps/2 adapter - already done this and can only achieve 60Hz
  • Buy a new mobo - expensive; prefer not to do this
  • Settings in the registry related to i8042prt driver
  • Buy a ps/2 port PCI-E card, but I think all these are USB anyway.
  • find third party program like the old ps2rate

My system
CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K - 9th-Generation Intel chipset (Coffee Lake)
MOBO: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO LGA1151
MOUSE: Microsoft Mouse 2.1A
OS: Windows 10

Thx if you can help.

Edit: Looks like I have already asked this question on here 4 years ago and forgot about it. How to get old Intellimouse2.1A ball mouse working in win10?. Even if it's not possible, before I buy a new mobo I would like to know if I will be able to reach 200Hz from the 100Hz Windows 10 provides for comps with ps/2 ports.

Asrock had the fatality line with the Fatal1ty port but Im not seeing that on the succesor series (phantom gaming). Dunno if it actually worked but therell be videos on it on youtube im sure. The other thing is the usb sweetlow driver on here (that never worked for me)

check pirana mods to see if he has a version of your shell up there.

Thx for reply. I hadn't heard of that device. Perhaps another option that might work.

But I'm starting to think there's just no way to port ps/2 through USB and gain the full benefits. You just have to buy a motherboard with the ps2 port, no way around it.

I will give Sweetlow driver a go, but I always thought you needed the ps2 port for that--it allowed ps2 port to be overclocked over 200Hz max.
