Here is what I have in new system:

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8 GHz Triple-Core Black Edition
Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboard running the F2c BIOS so unlocked CPU extra core
G.SKILL 2x2GB DDR3 1333 F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK
Zalman CNPS 9700 NT cooler
OCZ600SXS power supply
MSI NX8400GS-TD256E graphics card

Anyone ever OC'd this setup? Any suggested settings?

I did set the memory to 8-8-8-21 and 1.6V, command timing at 2T, NB voltage 1.4.

Newbie at this and don't want to fry my new system! It is for playing WOW and Warhammer.

Thnaks in advance!

If anything I know about G.Skill is their RAM that doesn't say it OC's doesn't really have any OC headroom. G.Skill RAM, unless otherwise stated, likes to run at normal speeds. (i.e. DDR2 800, DDR2 1066, DDR3 1333, etc)

So MEMTEST86 v 3.4 passed.

Here is what I have set now.. any suggestions? These came from GSKIL.. just looking for opinions or past experience input..

What should the CPU NB VID Control be set to?

The settings I have right now are:
ACC EC FIrmware Selection= Hybrid
ACC = Auto
CPU Clock Ratio = x18
CPU Northbridge Freq = x12
CPU Host Clock COntrol = Manual
CPU Freq= 200 MHz
PCIE Clock= 167 MHZ
HT Link Freq= Auto
Memory clock = x8.00
DCTs Mode = Unganged
CAS#LAtency = 8T
RAS to CAS F/w delay= 8t
Row Precharge TIme = 8T
Minimum RAS Active Time = 24T
1T/2T Command Timing = 2T
TwTr Command Delay = 4T
Trfc0 for Dimm1 = 90ns
Trfc2 for Dimm2 = 110ns
Trfc1 for Dimm3 = 90ns
Trfc3 for Dimm4 = 110ns
Write Recovery Time= 8T
Precharge Time= 4T
Row Cycel Time= 30T
RAs to Ras Delay= 4T
CPU NB VID Control= Normal (Is this correct setting?)
CPU Voltage COntrol= +0.150v
DRAM voltage control= 1.640v
DDR VTT Voltage COntrol = 1.000V
NB Voltage Control= 1.200V
SB/HT Voltage control= 1.300V
NB PCIE Voltage Contrrol= 1.900V

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Are you using memtest in windows? Memtest86 is a stand alone bootable iso image program that runs in a non windows setting. It doesn't reboot when you get errors, it just shows you that you have errors. According to the picture of the sticker on the ram sticks, you need 1.65v for the rated timings. Make sure you look at the sticker on your stick and input those timings and volts.

So I tried MEMTEST and it faisl pretty quickly.. reboots so can't see where\\why.. So reset everythign on BIOS to auto and still get the same thing.. then tried the 8-8-8-21 and 2T timing I foudn suggested at GSkill site. still no go..

any ideas how to log MEMTEst so I can see what fails?

Try this:

Cpu v 1.4v
Cpu-nb v 1.235v
NB v 1.25v

Watch your temps and make sure your ram can pass at least 2 passes of memtest86 before trying out the new settings. If your ram isn't stable there's no sense in trying any type of stress test. Run Intel Burn Test for 5 passes at maximum stress or occt for 15 min. If it can pass either of those then I'd move to prime95 blend. 3-4 hours of blend will sniff out any weaknesses in the imc or the cores.

Keep in mind I'm an Intel overclocking guy, new to AMD overclocking. So to fine tune anything, others might have to chime in.
I have no idea what the Hyperbus thingy is or any of that stuff lol.

Just up the multiplier on that 720 until it's not stable, then up the cpu voltage a tiny bit, and up the multiplier again. Don't forget to check temps. Try to stay under 1.45v and under 55C

Disable Cool N Quiet, and all those useless features while overclocking

Set pci-e bus to 100mhz fixed

Your OS shouldn't have an impact on an OC, but I do hear stories....
