this review was not sponsored.

and the mouse was purchased with my own money.

but i would like to thanks /u/ROCCATLeuchtrakete and u/elin_lyze for answering some of my questions.

mouse purchased at Roccat site directly

https://fr.roccat.org/Mice/Kone-Pure-Ultra

tldr:

this mouse have a very divisive shape.

mostly for small hands ,fingertip and small palm.so it is not for everyone

this is the lightest ergo mouse curently with only 66g without holes

but this mouse is insanely good!

great build quality,good coating

awesome click,great sensor

good rubber cable.

this mouse quality is just insane.

the only issue i have with this mouse is the software.

swarm is dated and bloated.

and i m sad this mouse use chinese 50m omrons that could suffer of double-clic issue one day.

but this mouse show the quality of German engineering .

mouse specs:

sold at 69euro or $69 .

size : Height: 3.90 cm Width: 7.00 cm Length: 11.50 cm

rubber cable

weight 66g

pixart 3389 sensor ,16k dpi ,450 ips, 50 g acceleration limit 1000hz

omroms china 50m switch

available is black and white.

internal memory.

Powerful RGB.

the mouse come very well packaged in a small box.

the box is just a bit longer than the mm710 box.

there is no goodies in the box or extra feet.

just some paperwork and the mouse.

i really like the protective shell in the box and the cable being rolled all around the package like logitech does.

there is no kink and the cable is flat out of the box.

very good job here.

shape and shell

this mouse is a revival and use the Roccat kone shape.

for me this shape is kinda part of the mx518 and revel fit family.

but a lot smaller with a more manageable hump.

it is kinda like a mx518 mini i guess.

and just like those shape, this mouse is very divisive, it is a love or hate shape.

with my 18.5x10 hand i can palm or fingertip this mouse and it feels confortable.

the coating is as strange to me.

mixing matte and glossy attribute.ill say it is kinda satin.

it is grippy but look kinda glossy.

it feels good.

but this thing is a fingerprint magnet and the black version is a nightmare looking always dirty.

take the white version if you can,it will look a lot cleaner.

the mouse is extremely light with 66g. (67g on my scale)

it use a honeycomb internal shell a bit like the viper and show no holes.

the shell feels solid with very minor creaking.

i will compare this mouse to the viper a lot in this review since both mouse are very similar in a way or use the same ideas .

fun fact: the mouse trailer show a transparent version of the mouse, but roccat actually made some transparent prototype to see how they work inside.

the thumb groove is very deep and the right side angle is very strong.

maybe make the thumb groove less deep and the right angle rounded could be an idea to make this shape more safe.

mouse cable

the mouse cable is rubber.

Roccat had plans for a paracord cable but Roccat is a German company.

and Europe have a very strict policy about cable safety.

so they had no choice here, but the cable is very flexible and is flat out of the box,thx to the very good packaging.

RGB

i had to talk about the rgb of this mouse.

this mouse have an illuminated cosmocat logo on its back.

and man this thing is BRIGHT.

blindly bright out of the box.

this thing really is like a flashlight out of the box.

but with the software you'll can lower the brightness.

the mouse save rgb settings by the way.unlike the viper...

one of the neat feature i like about this mouse too is

the mouse will turn off the rgb logo after a few min if not in use.

and when you turn off the computer the mouse rgb will turn off too.

and the mouse will check the computer to turn rgb on

so the mouse will not turn on in the middle of the night when you touch them unlike most glorious and razer mouses.

but a less bright setting would be nice out of the box.

Image

mouse glide and feet

the mouse have very large teflon feet.

they are rounded and come out of the box protected by some blue plastic.

so no guesswork here to see if there is plastic or not.

there is an inside joke with the roccat reps of the mouse having blue feet .

the teflon used here use some carbon to look black.just like razer does on some older mouses like the viper wired.

but the feet are rounded so the glide is extremly smooth out of the box.

there is no feet around the sensor, only a plastic bump.

i would have preferred it was a real feet.

mouse wheel and clicks and side buttons.

the main click are very good on this mouse.

they are very light and a bit stiff with small travel.

they are attached to the mouse, and to me this is very good.

a company that can't pull off good separate click should stick to attached ones.

they are easier to do with a great quality.

and here they are great quality indeed.

no pre travel, little post travel and absolutely NO wobble.

they are very satisfying,

the only thing that make me sad is, they use 50m chinese omron switch and those switch are known for double-clic issues in the gpw and death adder elite.

the side buttons are as good, they use ttc switch like the viper and they feels very satisfying and clicky with very good travel.

the only issue i have with the side button is

they have a small divider between them making hard to click both side button in same time.

and removing this divider would be great.

the mouse wheel is great too and i think it is the strong point of roccat.

the wheel is smooth, silent with very small slits and it grip well.

no need the huge notch glorious use in their model o.

the encoder they use is from alps, and it is one of the best encoder you can find.

each step is well defined and the wheel click is satisfying.

dpi buttons use ttc switch too.

this mouse quality is just incredible.shaking the mouse show no rattle. you can hear only the cable flopping around.

mouse sensor and click latency

the mouse use a 3389 sensor from pixart, 16k dpi max by step of 50,the pulling rate seems extremely stable on my unit, maybe one of the best graph i ever had in a mouse test.

the tracking seems on point with the minor deviation and usual smoothing of the 3389 beyond 1800 dpi.

strangely the sensor have the same hole shape as the viper 3399 focus + sensor.

the click latency and debouncing time in the other hand are incredible.

with debouncing on the mouse fight toe to toe vs the model o and show around 4 to 5 ms of debounce time.

the debounce algorithm can be turned off and the mouse can directly compete with the viper with almost no click lag.

but caution, this mode can cause slam click and double click issues when on.

the software:swarm

swarm is....bad,convoluted,bloated,it is slider hell.

this software feel like it was made 10 years ago.

and they added things for 10 years

there is so much setting you need to download a new module for the kpu.

and it make you glad the mouse save all setting internally.

but there is some good options.

like lod or rgb settings, timeouts, the mouse save easy shifts by the way so you can add secondary fonction to some buttons.the mouse will glow bright blue when using easy shift by the way.

you can change dpi by 50 and remove dpi steps (5 max).

so this is good because the mouse have no dpi led.

there is some useless settings too like angle snapping or make the computer talk every time you change dpi...

there is a debounce setting but it is just an on off switch.

a debouncing time slider would be great.

the program comes too with tons of macro already in memory for a tons of games.

and there is some special settings for alienware hardware.

swarm is really swarming in settings and need some cleaning.

thanks you for reading!

Just plugged in my White Version bought off Max Gaming late last year.

Lazy old man here where I no longer use any product bought, unless I get bored with the previous purchase.

This model is way lighter than my Kain but overall the shape is only about 5mm shorter than the Kain. Thought this would be way smaller but alas my complaint isn't with that at all because the Scroll Wheel is back with it's perfect 'notchy' feel.

The Kain's Scroller was a little more smoother which kind of angers me, due to loving Roccat's Alps models that have been used over the years.

That was my only reason for buying another Roccat product line simply due to loving their superior Scroll Wheels which compared to most other manufacturers out there, leave's them for dust. If Logitech bothered to use real Alp's scrollers, then Roccat would be under the hammer here.

Alas Logitech and other Giant's are too ignorant to know what type of scroll wheel's to use for any of their so-called Gaming Mice :arrowhead .

Yeah, it looks like only Roccat cares about decent Scrollers whilst every other company thinks it's about as important as dog droppings.

Just see what Logitech, Razer and SteelSeries use, garbage scrollers in every model made and sold by those face-clowns. It's 2020 and they still have the guts to call their junkware 'Gaming Mice':buttkick: .

Yeah they're not easy to press but because it's side buttons, aren't they suppose to be harder to press?

Just in case you accidentally pressed it via any Gaming Session where your hand, becomes stressed under certain gaming situations. For myself it doesn't present as a problem because my hand rests on the mouse mat and only my four front fingers, grip the top and side of this mouse.

It's a very small device but still like using it, it's the scroller that has me hooked.
