So are the Spinpoint F3's like the Western Digtals Black Editions, and the F4's like the Green Editions? Or are they a little closer in performance than that. Ive never really trusted anything other then Western Digital, but I here Samsung makes some pretty good drives, but I want a high performance drive not eco friendly or anything.

You need to be a little more specific than F3 v F4, as both ranges have 'green' drives in them.

The Samsung 'green' drives are tagged 'EcoGreen'. The low rpm F3s are F3EG drives, and the performance ones are the F3 ones. The 1TB F3 is a great mix of performance and value - faster and cheaper than most of the competition, which makes them ideal for a performance array on a budget.

The same is true with the F4 range - but the only 'normal' non-green drives currently are the 320GB ones, and they are the equivalent of the Black drives (and are a great budget buy). The higher capacity F4EG drives are all green, but as the price is low also they are also often a good storage drive.

Sorry to intrude here but I have a similar question.
I wanted to buy the Spinpoint F4 HD322GJ 320GB but unfortunately the shop didn't have it, so I bought a Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB. From what I've read, the F4 is generally better and is very silent. Anyway, the perfomance difference with the F3 is probably perceivable only in benchmarks, but what about the noise? How is the F3 500GB vs the F4 320GB in terms of noise? In both cases I'm referring to the 'perfomance' model (7200RPM).
