So, my old steelseries qck mousepad seems to be wearing out. It's a really good mousepad, but one of the problems i have with it, is that it seems to fray at the edges, which is kind of annoying. Is this also a problem with the steelseries qck edge?

I think most decent mousepads today are designed to prevent fraying and peeling at the edges. So, I'd bet you're better off buying whatever new models SS has instead of keeping yours and wondering.

But, at the same time, I'm wondering why even stick with SS. There are other pads on the market that best their products easily.

I don't really like the Steelseries 4hd because it's a bit too fast, but when all my other hardpads die from use, the thing just seems to never die and I end up using it again because the others are dead from wear. That one Logitech hardpad is even faster than the Steelseries making it completely uncontrollable, so it's not as bad as that thing, but still not really good for aim. For hard pads I seem to like those ghetto Rocketfish aluminum pads and the Razer hard pads are usually good too.

Its the same as the other QcK, except it has stitching, which can fray too, but the stitching on the QCK Edge is pretty thick, so it might rub against your arm/wrist when playing if you find that annoying

Ive tried quite a few mousepads too, keep going back to the heavy myself

I just had a look at the prices for the Qck Edge in large (400x450mm) and wow it's super cheap, only around $26 AUD on Amazon. Can't really go wrong for that price if you like the Qck surface I guess. If you want something more on the expensive side, the Artisan FX Zero is considered by a lot of people to be like a "higher quality Qck". I have the Zero but I don't have a Qck so I can't personally confirm that, but there are a couple of videos on YouTube about it and a lot of posts online. Artisan's stitched edges are pretty low profile and should last a long time.

Just FYI though, when I recently went directly to the English website from Google the whole site was broken. I had to go to the Japanese site, then click the link to the English site to get it working. Here's a link to save you the hassle: https://www.artisan-jp.com/fx-zero-eng.html

Yeah it is one of those pads that gets hairs stuck in it haha. Similar stuff happens with my Glorious XL Heavy. I'm a bit of a clean freak with my desk, I keep an electric duster on the table so when I see any debris on my mouse pad I blast it off immediately :D

use ebay, save money. You can get a QcK heavy style material in XXL for the same price of a normal size pad.

I just picked up a few for xmas gifts and work, & they've come a long way. They're identical to the standard 'fast' surface you'd find on goliaths, SS, etc mouse pads. likely from the exact same factory (kinda like dxracer tier gamer chairs) just less desirable brands/images printed on em.

Not sure if the Edge has a different surface? SS is known to have different feel on the different QcK versions. note that if you want some control, there's some different pads out there.

Also: Raindrop XL.

As far as i can tell, the steelseries edge is a soft cloth mousepad, whereas the steelseries qck hard is a bit more similar to the steelseries 4hd. It also seems like the steelseries edge was designed to solve the problem with fraying, so perhaps i should give it a try?
