The alienware 15 is nice. The 13 would have been a winner had it had a quad core instead of the dual core schananigans. If the 13 had a quad core with that 13 inch portability, and the ability to use a desktop GPU. It would have had "win" all over it. However they failed. If the purchasee of the 15 doesn't have weight and size in mind, i'd go for it over the Omen. I bought my Omen though because it is small. (1.339" to 0.78" )

For that money i would just get the Alienware 17 and have my mind at ease for the years to come...everyone knows about the legendary Dell costumer support...and i am one of the many people that got helped a lot by their assistance..

A bit more pricy than the rest with similar specs, but you have a really well built machine, with excellent cooling and low noise. Of course the specs are gonna be beastly like every Alienware machine there is out there..

You could look at the P650SG model, its slightly thicker but also comes with a 980m

Is it a brand or just the website where you can make a custom pc? They look pretty slick but no idea it they overprice or are decently priced. Do you?

The p650sg looks perfect. Especially for price range. So far it's the number one contender unless you have a favorite if I had, say 200$ more to spend

Open box I'm not opposed to. Used I can't do. I like the gigabyte especially since I can get a ssd one. Don't see any audio specs on them tho and is there a warranty besides the 30 day?

I haven't really ever had the best of luck with dell. I pretty much don't want to support their company at all anymore. Last year the alienwares were anodized aluminum. This year same EXACT look, but it is plastic with carbon fiber.

I would stick with the older stuff from Dell, the newest latest and greatest is such a sham.

PCIE x4 eGPU
SoB CPU/GPU
dGPU disabled when eGPU is connected

No reason to pay the premium for that. IF AMD had more offerings I would suggest the m6800 or something but sadly all we have is overpriced nV junk (in terms of gaming)

Okay, so here's where i'm at if i'm going new/customized:

1. Sager NP8652 (P650SG) - http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8652-clevo-p650sg-p-7795.html
Okay, so this one is in first place so far b/c it has all the bells and whistles - i7-4720, gtx 980m, sound blaster xifi, amplified headphone output, and a finger print reader? *** is that? i like the sound of it -
downfalls: no ssd, which i'm sure i could get a custom one somewhere and add it since i have no idea how to customize inner workings of a laptop (especially a small thing worth over a grand), and i'm not sure if i could get more for my money or if i would, past this point, be throwing cash away to add useless things

2. I NEED a number two

3. HP Omen - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834259370&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6146846&SID=i7gl6013ai000kb500053
okay, so this one comes in at a FEW dollars cheaper than the sager, AND i get my SSD, but its only one 256 gb, which i guess is okay, and its 1 lb lighter and tiny, its so tiny its cool
downfalls: GTX860M!!!, the sager is a few dollars more and is running with a 980m, beats audio - which i know of, but reviews say the sound is par or sub par, ?warranty

4. MSI-GS60 Ghost Pro-066 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152685
This laptop IS PRICEY but sooo shiny. It has dynaudio tech and dynaudio speakers which i heard were decent, its LIGHTER THAN THE OMEN, Has a 256 ssd AND 1tb HDD, 2 yr warranty, 16gb DDR3 (not sure if i really need it though)
Downfalls: ITS 2,049$, now my title does say that i'm looking for a range of 1500-2000$ so nothing wrong with posting this one, its just that compared to the specs of the sager, i'm paying 500$ MORE for a ssd add on, and to be one pound lighter, which may be what the laptop world is like, i'm not sure cause i'm just now getting into it hopefully

Let me know what you guys think, or if it would be better to build one through a website. I looked into Alienware 15 laptop but their website confused the hell outta me trying to figure out how to customize it.

Depends on the cans used each laptop will handle the requirements to drive them properly in their own flavor.

You could always get a USB DAC and be good to go if sound is a huge concern.

I personally use Sound Blaster Omni 5.1 USB sound card for my m6600.

Is there any reason why you aren't buying a Sager NP9752-S? Because you said your budget was $2000 USD, and the Sager NP9752-S is far and away the best performing laptop for $1920.00

I just took a look at that sager, and it has a great review. Temperatures are in pretty good check for how thin it is. My only concern about it would be the fact that the bottom is plastic. Other than that it seems like a good laptop:

Well, it seems to me we have a top contender that blows a good bit of the rest out of the water at the moment

Fleetfeather i did not even know about it till now so right now its the one i have my eye on

Sager NP9752 / Clevo P750ZM
full review - http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/sager-np9752-clevo-p750zm-htwingnuts-initial-impressions-and-review.770412/

It is a beast of a machine starting around 2k as i can tell so far

It may weigh 2-3 lbs more than the other contenders, and run a 970M instead of a 980, but we are working with i7-4790 with 512 gb in ssd with 1 tb memory and a BADA%% thermal cooling system that more than makes up for the work it can put out

If there are no other contenders at this time, i think this is definitely an excellent choice

Now to figure out where to buy it from

Cause the only place i found was amazon for 2100$ O.O

otherwise the msi gs60 ghost is the runner up for 4.4 lbs and 256 gb ssd with 1 tb hdd, 16gb ddr3, and gtx 970M

You will be GPU bound far before hitting the CPU ceiling. In fact mobile CPU's are pretty much on par with desktop locked counterparts.

Although i had a lot of interest in Desktop CPU in a laptop premise, the benefits arent as long lasting as you would think. Unless your making money off that machine and its your primary platform, its not something that I would recommend.

In fact my 2760qm from 2011 still muscles through games just fine, its the GPU that is my bottleneck in gaming.

Really for a laptop the only things that matter is CPU + GPU and how well it dissipates heat, everything else is swappable later.
