With the video games market excited at the prospect of 3DM taking a year-long break, the Chinese cracking group has just thrown a wrench in the works. According to 3DM's leader, speculation that her team can't beat Denuvo has proven too much and they now appear determined to publish a solution, albeit in unorthodox fashion.

"3DM will soon announce that we have a solution to the latest Denuvo encryption used on games including 'FIFA 16', 'Just Cause 3', and 'Tomb Raider: The Rise'," 3DM leader Bird Sister just announced.

Could it be that there's a turmoil within the group and hence conflicting statements being made ?

I guess that check from Denuvo's marketing team didn't clear

Pretty much an "eggs in one basket" approach isn't it?

Crackers say they can't crack a DRM
Industry then puts all modern games on the new DRM
Surprise! we can crack it

It isn't going to end and people never learn, DRM will always be attacked because there is incentive to. Specifically the ever-increasing cost of games with little improvement to justify it.
Either way, it was bound to happen.

Funniest cracker group I've ever seen. They are worried about the sales...

From now on they should change the group name to "MC" - moral crackers.

I would rather say it sounds like they are paid to hold it back. Why on earth should they care about sales? Makes no sense what so ever.

For me this group came up all of the sudden anyway. I've never heard of them before the whole JC3 crack talk started. And you're are probably right, more of an "paid to shut up" kind of an situation.

There's already partial crack for Rise of Tomb Radier (DLC unlock + automatic unlock script for huge public multiaccounts or family sharing unlock (playing the game on offline when the game is shared by family sharing)) so I think a proper crack for denuvo is getting really close even with 3DM not participating for some time.

So while denuvo was good enough to stop the crack for few months then it already is bypassed using other ways.
Multiaccounts for rise of tomb raider go for around 20-30PLN around here (5-8 USD) and for those who don't want to pay anything there are also those huge public multiaccounts with special scrpits to automate activation process.

Right now I just wait for prices(in any source) to go below 100PLN.
I'm not willing to pay more than that because I'm sick of games going much higher than the usual 120PLN price.

That's what, €28? Yeah...you're lucky you even get them for that price, in Estonia most (if not all) games are already €59.99 and our wage is about similar.

That is hardly the reason behind 3DMs crack. It's region locks and content filtering that drive groups like 3DM. Their game cracking is a political statement, not an attempt to get something for free.

This day and age, DRM development costs > Game development cost.

i thought they were not going to attempt cracking games for a while, to "measure impact on sales". i am confuzzled now.

Nevermind. Just read this, from the article:

Apparently, growing speculation that the group aren't up to the job of cracking Denuvo has provided them with new inspiration to prove the masses wrong.

Just pay for the game and you don't have to wait.

I think 1 month after the game is out should not damage sale all that much. Also Pirates would get a patched game which is even better. Regular buys are just Beta testers.

So tired of that.

Regular buyers are NOT beta testers, they never have been.

If a game comes out buggy, it's already been beta tested and they clearly failed that prerogative but, it doesn't make YOU the consumer a beta tester...Not in the least.

Bottom line: Stop buying these games if you have problems with bugs. Period. Don't whine and make up a scenario that you're a beta tester.

That being said 3DM went from: We're giving up, it's too hard. --> We're taking a break to see what happens to the market. --> Ummmm hey guys, we might have beaten it so, we're back.

You are so wrong. Today getting the game out as soon as possible is more important then fully beta testing the game. You clearly have no idea of the bugs and problems most games come out today. If you an play 1 hour and get problems then clearly not much time was spend fixing. Here is the thing. They know about the problems. Fixing them takes time. Once the game is out its much easier for the masses to find bugs and dev ca fix the major stuff.

Wanting something for free might be the reason YOU download the content, but your need for free stuff is not the reason groups like 3dm form and crack software. I promise they are not sitting around saying "lets crack this so those American kids don't have to pay $60 for that game they want to play". They crack it because they (A)can't legally obtain it, (B)it will have content removed/censored, or (C)will be 1/2 of yearly salary.

Unless there's a multiplayer component associated with the game, I usually just buy it a year later in a Steam / Origin sale. Literally, i'm one year behind the entire industry... I'm playing Shadow of Modor right now that I off the last steam sale for $12.

I just can't download pirated software as I don't know how it's been altered. I remember a friend of mine downloaded GTAV torrent and the patches and cracks from 3DM. He was saying that in order to get it to work properly he was required to disable his malware and virus scan. Biiiiiiiiig sketchbomb....
