I'm still on an R9 290 paired with an i7 930. I was hoping these cards would be around the same as the older gens, to force prices down so I can buy either a 2070 or a 1080 Ti. I'm gonna be buying a 1080 Ti used off ebay now. These damn prices are why I haven't upgraded my PC in years. my X58 is from 2010 and my 290 is from 2014.

Sorry, bought the Ti, I think I am the reason graphics cards are priced at a ridiculous level.

#16 ·
You already preordered? dammit man. Join the resistance

That's not the prices they gave out during the conference.

$499 for 2070, $699 for 2080, $999 for 2080 Ti.

#7 ·
Those are non FE prices.

And most, if not all AIB partner cards will be close to the FE prices, so those prices ($500/700/1000) may as well be $300, $400 and $600.
I'm confused here. You won't ever see anything that low. ever again.

One thing to note, might be an error, but the shipping options aren't priced so might as well choose the expedited option.

1279€ in Italy or 1449€ for a custom Asus on preorder LOL

If the RTX 1070 is that much faster than my GTX 1080 then i might consider that but Nvidia can take a hike with the higher cards and those prices
Insane and ridiculous prices!

Guess I'll be holding on to my 1080 Ti for sometime to come and if these kind of prices continue into the future, my PC gaming days might be over with. Things will get interesting once intel and AMD decide to release some competitive cards in the future.

We can probably hold on to the GTX 1080 ti until next gen of consoles. Then we'll need to upgrade to ray tracing cards.

I'll wait for AMD and/or Intel at this point. Not really any games out there atm to justify upgrading still.. even from my 290x. Certainly not going to pay these inflated prices.

And for those that justify this by saying "well it's faster therefore it should cost more". Sorry, are you new to technology? That's now how it works.

I only wanted to upgrade from my 290 because I got a 55" 4K 3D OLED which gives me a relaxing immersive experience but my 290 can't handle demanding games at that resolution. And the possibility of 3D gaming. Besides that I've been content for years with my X58 build though it does crash sometimes...I think prbly due to only 6GB of RAM

I've been waiting a long time for these cards to drop so I can finally upgrade my 970. I'd planned to upgrade my graphics card, add a 4K monitor and pick up 2nd gen VR. Alas, with prices like these I won't be doing that. Not because I can't afford it, but because it feels like I'm getting price gouged and ripped off. AMD where are you?!

I was prepared to pay $800 for a 2080TI, $700 for a 2080 or $350 for a 2070. I might have be talked into $400 for a 2070 as a last resort. These prices though...

Anyone selling their used 1080 TI's?
I really hope a 2070 with decent cooler can fall for around 500 bucks. I'd buy one if it's the same as a 1080 Ti. Anything more in price or less in performance would make me look for a used 1080 Ti

I'm sure there'll be a few members. Its hard to resist the new shiny thing (I'll speak for myself).

If i remember well he said that the 2070 is faster than the Titan P, don't know if he was talking about all performance or only ray tracing. BTW when the NDA will lift for the review? 20th September?

you have faith, dude!

In fact I am, I am selling my 1080ti to my friend at 200Cad with an waterblock. Could sell for higher price but I need to wait for heatkiller to come out with an gpu waterblock, which might take months.

I don't get good value I know, given away lot of nice stuff at fraction of costs to literally free. Though as result, most of my friends now have custom loop water cooled pcs.

If it was $100.00 more than the 1080Ti I would have still bought it, I only play World of Warcraft on my machine so $1200.00 is way too much.

#44 ·
I think from my perspective, it has been so long since a frontier level card has been released that the price went to the way side and the only question that I asked was whether or not it performs better than the 1080 Ti.

Absolutely disgusting.

I find it incredibly hilarious how many people are in here commenting on ray tracing without having seen the demonstrations. The differences in graphical fidelity are astounding. I believe the first game that will leverage ray tracing is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The Battlefield V demonstration was easily the best of the three games they showcased. Ray tracing is more or less making the in-game environment look more realistic in ways that were either previously not possible or impractical. The games that utilize ray tracing will look better with these graphics cards.

I'm currently indifferent toward the pricing because I don't know how the performance compares to currently available cards outside of handicapped comparisons made via ray tracing. If the RTX 2080 Ti is 50% better than the GTX 1080 Ti (I doubt it), it's a lot easier to justify the price tag. Getting mad over a price without knowing the performance is silly. Performance dictates price. Also, these are release prices. They shouldn't stay at that same number forever. If crypto can't leverage the RT and Tensor cores, we shouldn't have to worry about miners negatively affecting supply for the people who want these cards are reasonable prices.

I'm waiting to see how these cards perform using current metrics. I would need the RTX 2070 to perform about 40-50% better than a GTX 1070 to seriously consider it. If any of the games I play eventually implement ray tracing, it would be easier to justify release day prices.

I looked at it and yes it obviously looks better but not enouhgh to justify anything for me. especially with games I'd be playing. Its just reflections and shadows, settings I turn down anyways becaues they don't do much when it comes to core graphics settings in my opinion. You have to actually focus on the reflections (Battlefield V) and the shadows (tomb raider) to care. Both look good enough without RTX

never mind

I was shocked about the prices at first but on second thought if the cards are fast enough the price does not matter as much
What? Why would the price not matter? Heck, we don't even have benchmarks yet.

Anyone 'member the days of $500 GTX 580, $380 GTX 570? $500 GTX 680, $400 GTX 670? $550 GTX 980, $330 GTX 970???

Yeah the stoopidity really started around the 600, 700-series time, but my god the pricing is out of hand no matter the performance these days. Back in the day, x80 was the top dog (single card) of any given generation (before they started doing Ti and Titan releases). It was $500ish. Not $1200. This is price gouging to the max and anyone who doesn't see that is kidding themselves.

Read what i said or i will said it again if the cards are fast ENOUGH as in huge jumps in FPS the price dont matter as much
If the cards are twice as fast as the cards before them then the price is not as much of an issue
Agreed. Im just glad we finally have tech moving forward. I have been waiting for ray-tracing for a long time.
