Hating on CoD is the cool thing to do now.

I have no problem if people hate the game, as long as they give a valid reason as to why, and have their very own opinion on it.

I've been playing the PC version and have really been enjoying it! Only annoying thing that I've been seeing are the bouncing bettys and shock charges, every corner I go around there seems to be one. But that can be fixed with a perk so I can't complain much. Also as long as you set your matchmaking search preferences to Best you should have no problems with lag.
Overall really impressed with the game, never really enjoyed a CoD game like this since CoD4.

Actually. I play on pc as well. While my machine is FAR from a "beast". I play most games on high settings @1080p. i7 2600, evga superclocked gtx 560, 160gb ssd, 500gb hdd, windows 8 64 bit. It is just simple math. When you have consoles outselling pc by millions. They need to wake up and stop wasting their time. All you hear is pc Elite's whining and crying how bad they are any ways. Apparently though Blops 2 is actually good on pc this time around. Regarding bugs and better settings.

However the pc version is also full of hackers from what I hear. PC gamers will do any thing to stay on top. Its pretty pathetic. Console is more harder to do. Especially with hacking in the game. And they are not hacks. Just taking advantage of glitches. On the 360 live is much more policed especially with a game like Blops 2. Cheat and you will be banned. Keep doing it and its a console ban. It might take a little while and you might think you are getting away with it. But, they will eventually get you. And I love reading people pleading their cases how they did not cheat. So funny.

I've always been a CoD fan, just like the play style more than others. But this one is definitely better than the last couple of games.

I lol'd, it's so true.

Right now the MP kind of sucks, especially in comparison to MW3. They really messed up the gun damage. Basically all the assault rifles in MW3 killed in 3 shots or less within range. Now all but the single shot and three round burst assault rifles kill in 4 or more. That completely nerfs them in comparison to submachine guns and SMG's completely dominate MP.

That move took CoD a step in the wrong direction IMO. The most important stat in recent games has been fire rate. CoD has been less about accuracy, more about pumping as many bullets out as possible. Not a fan of the spray and pray gameplay.

We have dedicated servers while they have P2P for online play so that's not a good comparison. Besides, I've seen number well above 800k from the videos posting MP.

My point in all this is that there should be far more people playing this game online on the PC. It was said that perhaps DX11 was some sort of barrier for some but that can't be the case because so many people on the PC side bought the game. So I have to wonder why aren't there more people playing online?

I already did, but, to elaborate: COD multi and single player are so linear now it's not even funny. No, they never were sandbox, but there was a lot of terrain to cover and a lot of interesting scenarios in Single, and in MP you had Capture the flag along with the other game modes. The levels were typically fairly well balanced, with lots of mufti-leveled structures and routes to get where you wanted to go. There were no silly perks or heart-beat sensors, it was just a great shooter. That was COD2.

Then there was COD3. AKA "Wish we were Battlefield." It was absolutely atrocious. I believe it was the first Treyarch game, and the Single Player was buggy, uninteresting, and bland. The MP was terrible. Tanks, Jeeps, etc, all done very, very wrong.

MW was ok. But not what I wanted out of Activision. Graphically it was pretty good. Everything sicne then has just been a reskin with some different perks and lots of sillyness. Lots of flat terrain with walls, and where there are structures with multilevels, the rooms are about the size of a bathroom, there's zero bullet drop (I remember sniping people a good 100 yards out on the larger maps with a P90). There's choppers, gunships, etc, with nothing to combat them. Just wait and die, try to find a hiding place inside if you're lucky. A bit ridiculous. And no, I'm not bad at COD. I've won games practically by myself, point is, while trying to be different they've completely broken every decent aspect of what COD multiplayer had.

As for me I actually think most of the CoD games are extremely good. The gameplay and shooting mechanics are literally about as good as it gets in modern shooters today and that part is not even really debatable. My issue is purely with yearly releases and franchise fatigue. I'm simply not interested in buying six copies of the same game. Modern Warfare 1 was an instant classic and I'll always love it but since then I've just moved on to other things. Black Ops 2 may be a great game but I'm still playing BF3 as my shooter fix. IMO it's the only game that's really surpassed COD's weapon feel and more importantly it's fresh. I'd have the same problem with that series to however if EA decided to follow the same business model.

Honestly Activision ought to take a cue from Microsoft with Halo and start treating their star franchise with some respect rather then as a yearly cash grab. Maybe it's not as good for sales but for someone like me who likes games a lot, is competitive and knows them inside and out by the time I'm done I am way more hyped when the next release has been baking for 3+ years and it's obvious that a ton of TLC has gone into it.

From a business perspective though it's pretty clear why they do what they do. I mean CoD as a franchise is just on a whole other level compared to everything else. Halo and GTA bow before it in terms of sales.

Edit: For the record VGchartz is not a legitimate sales site and most of it's numbers are made up and then corrected when NPD releases figures. Not trying to backseat mod or anything but yeah. BO2 obviously is going to be the top-selling game of the year so it shouldn't be too hard to ball park but it should be known these are just speculation.

400k for PC but 2.5 million people are playing it? LOL! I'm kidding.... just kidding.

People complain about the age console but only one thing matters in the end..... sales. Sex sales?

Basing activity strictly on P2P vs Dedicated Servers is a flawed argument. That isn't gonna change when people sign on. Gotta remember that when the bulk of US players are playing, that is a low time for Europe. Black Ops has rarely peaked at 800k or higher since release, which is why I said 700k, its actually closer to 600k.

I don't like Call of Duty because the franchise's success has led to developers attempting to copy its bland, unimaginative design and dull gameplay. It popularized the modern military shooter which displaced the much more fun and creative arena shooter genre in popularity during the mid and late 2000s. Also more developers are starting to imitate Call of Duty's business model: release a re-skinned sequel to the previous game with the same engine only two years later. Crysis 3 looks a lot like Crysis 2 and I'm sure that the gameplay in Battlefield 4 won't be drastically altered compared to Battlefield 3. I'm sure more developers will follow Call of Duty's business model provided the franchise maintains its popularity.
