The Sniper update Spy update rolls on today. Yes you read that right. Seems Valve dropped a little surprise on our hands and we are getting two class updates this time around. Today's reveal is two new upgrades for the dear ole spy. Quite a few people complained about his effectiveness yesterday after The Razorback update for the Sniper but the dear ole Spy has some new toys of his own.

First up is The Dead Ringer. This watch allows the Spy to feign death so to speak, but not in that TFC way. After taking a non-lethal hit you get 8 seconds of cloak to sneak up behind would-be-killers as they check out your fake corpse laying on the ground.

This is going to be awesome. The only concerns are getting from point A to B in the 8 seconds if you are crossing enemy lines. Most good Spies almost exclusively use the cloak for movement and this could slightly hamper that. I am guessing this is the swap for the revolver but don't quote me on that.

The coolest update is Cloak and Dagger. This new cloak allows you to be permanently invisible! The only catch is you have to stand still to charge it. Metal doesn't charge it and only movement drops the meter. I could definitely see myself swapping this for the primary cloak which I imagine this replaces.

Props to Valve for the awesome surprise update. It looks like the weekend (maybe next week) is going to bring a whole bunch of Sniper and Spy play. After that run of months with no updates thanks to Left 4 Dead Valve is making up for it.

Oh... and for those of you that have questioned the Pyro's sex, even though I told you before, Valve slipped up today:

I think people are looking into it too much. I've said she instead of he and visa verse plenty of times before. Mootsfox and Megaoption can attest for that. ROFL

They're going to do both, however in typical valve quality the spy update was disguised as the sniper update. Only way to announce it in my opinion.

This will be one heck of an update, I wonder how they balance so much content internally. There was strong evidence that the payload race mode was intended for the scout update (didn't they originally say it was?) and so that might explain how they fit in here, but still that's a lot to go through.

Also its not clear that there are 3 item updates for both the spy and sniper, but until told otherwise its a safe bet. Wouldn't feel right if there was a milestone without an unlockable (it also wouldn't feel right if there were only two milestones/less achievements).

The Pyro's flame-******ant suit is many, many layers thick, probably consisting of both modern Nomex, old-time asbestos, and perhaps even something cooked up by the engies that has no real world version.

As such, her suit is many, many layers thick, both to insulate from heat and to protect the Pyro/her teammates from the asbestos. This means that the suit does not follow the contours of it's wearer at all, which gives the Pyro the jigglyness we've come to know.

Valve can't be having to deal with Mesothelioma lawsuits from it's video game characters, now can it?

I'm kind of thinking it was just the accident of whoever wrote that blog post, not knowing it was treated as such an authoritative source. My guess is, the joke they were making about being inconsolable was only really funny when the Pyro was treated as a "she". Knowing the ambiguous gender of the pyro, they wrote it that way.
