I don't regret my 120hz., what I regretted was purchasing the v3d245 because of other monitor issues. The 120hz was superb

Don't regret it at all - definitely one of the best things I've done with regards to PC gaming.

 

got my Samsung S23A950D, and this monitor has been good...

Although, some games simply do not support 120hz, such as Rage... So you will not get the fullest extent of certain games as games such as NFS: Hot Pursuit is limited only to 30FPS....

Make sure that your system is powerful enough to push out the 120HZ and the monitor WILL NOT disappoint, also even in other games... it simply gets rid of tearing without V SYNC being enabled(THE LAG!!!) so it was a great upgrade for me...

 

I got 2 of the BenQ ones, they are great.

 

Nope bought 3 x whenthey just came out for $350 best purchase ever can't go back to 60

 

You really notice it once you have it. Being able to see all the frames your getting makes it easier on the eyes.

No regrets at all.

I have on occasion accidentally gone back to 60hz and it was really easy to notice, and not very nice play on.

 

no regrets on my Samsung S23A750D..i would also consider Samsung S27A750D or the BenQ in OP...though I would wait for some more official reviews...im not a big fan of BenQ QA issues...but that monitor looks good so far.

FYI - I also have 24" IPS..its great for work/web..and the 16:10 ratio is awesome. It's actually a better size/fit for me...but the 120hz 750D is unbeatable in gaming...

Of course someone who dropped a bunch of money on their monitor is going to like. Instead what you should do is look at reviews for a perticular monitor you want on websites such as newegg or amazon, or more importantly find a review of it on a pro website like tftcentral.

I don't own one, so I can't participate in the poll, but if you asked me if my IPS panel was worth it I would say a biased yes.

I will say this can be true. I think some people can go a little overboard on how BIG of a difference it is and how it's soo "life changing" or as dramatic as "night and day". That being said. Do I regret buying 120hz? No, no way. Was it worth it? 100% yes...completely. 120hz is most noticeable in fast pace gaming like shooter or racers compared to my 60hz IPS... (might not be the case for other games..not sure, only been playing BF3).

I will say that 120hz made my PC/graphic card "feel" more powerful....removing the 60fps cap and moving the limit to 120fps IS noticeable and more enjoyable (even tho i only get 65 - 85 fps in BF3). I can actually get more value out of my hardware (gfx card) ...i can actually SEE the difference (at least compared to my 60hz IPS). In the end, the cost was worth it to me based on the improved game play. Not sure if it will be for you or anyone else.

It is not like "OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER..MUST HAVE UPGRADE. I CAN NEVER USE 60HZ AGAIN!! HOW DID I EVER USE 60HZ!!"...its not like you are going from 20fps to 60fps...but more like "DAMN THIS IS NICE, SO SMOOTH - I LOVE IT!".

So in short...100% worth it. 120hz (or IPS for non-gamers) and SSDs should be standard upgrades for enthusiasts with cash to spare..imho. Best two new upgrades in the current pc market.

And just FYI - Would I ever buy a 60hz again for gaming? If I have a choice..No, probably not...especially for fast pace gaming...Can I still game on 60hz? Yes, I'd game on it just fine...but I would rather be on 120hz..if I have the hardware for it. I won't cry if I had to play on 60hz...

PS: My comparison is mostly comparing my 60hz IPS vs my 120hz TN. I am sure there are faster response 60hz TN panels...where the difference is even less so...but overall...I think it would still be worth it...especially, if you graphic card can push 75+ fps.

The thought of going back to 60hz...well, it's not gonna happen. Just not gonna happen.

It's not just a matter of smoother gameplay...I mean, it is, but...games like BF3 and Crysis 2...they want 120hz too. Great games really shine with more fps.

They're not free and they're not cheap, but if you can afford gpus that can maintain ~90+ fps in most games, you should definitely consider giving them a monitor that lets them run free, like they were meant to.

 

Only had my benq for a day now but I am impressed with it so far, no regrets, I'll edit my post if I change my mind. I notice a difference playing BF3, it felt like the game had more life to it. The colors aren't bad, actually think they are better than my old monitor! I never owned an IPS so I can't compare.

 

120Hz is best decision EVER, except i did it with my TV not my computer monitor... im waiting until my monitor dies so i have an excuse to buy another one, i dont know what people are saying about the DCLCD monitors, but this thing is durable! i use it everyday, leave it on 24/7 and its pretty much being used to its max potential every day... still not choking up... it gets hot but it doesnt wanna die on me.... no matter how much i slap it, "accidentally drop it" or whatever without taking a hammer to it, it just lives on

 

If I ever buy a new monitor it will surely be 120hz, it must be a big difference for you guys with the 590 and sli 580 card. It all depends on how good your hardware can pump out the fps really, since most people play with v-sync if they have really good hardware for the current games with the 60hz.

Yeah game play in shooters does feel more "real" i guess...since there is reduced ghosting/blurring during fast movements compared to 60hz. my eyes seem to be able to focus more easily...i think it has help with reaction time tbh. And like another poster said above, 120hz helps to remove the "choke" of 60hz...why buy good hardware if...you can't even see the difference?!?!? 120hz will let you see the difference...60hz won't. might as well save now for new monitor and put your current one on craigslist. get something for it now is better than nothing later.

and why dont you have an ssd yet?

 

I could never go back to 60hz, the difference is VERY noticeable, its a lot smoother.

 

It's not only apparent in games but also desktop use. Just browsing pages and scrolling looks overall smoother.

Using a 60 Hz screen really sucks after using a 120 Hz screen for a while.

 

Is there a reason to regret buying a 120Hz? Its not worse in any way.

There are no 120Hz IPS panels currently on the market, so that's a big tradeoff. I can't stand the piss poor viewing angles and color rendering of TN panels, no matter how fast the screen might refresh. If you can handle the inferior colors, then by all means go for it.

I agree with this.

Although I appreciate and love the smoothness of a 120Hz monitor (I felt the choppiness when I went from my good ol' CRT @75Hz to the LCD @60Hz), I will never trade the color accuracy of an IPS to the faster response time of a 120Hz TN.

Once 120Hz IPS start to surface... We might talk.

Just as a note, I don't own a 120Hz TN, neither will I. But I've used them for extended periods of time.
