Update: now Health status has dropped to 92% so I'm going to do an RMA and see what the shop says:

Still 94 here, but I haven't put much more writes/reads through it.

Let us know how it goes.

Same problem with 1TB variant. 4 TB write and SMART parametr 5 (percentage use) show 11%. I contacted Samsung Support and waiting for answear. I have many Samsung SSD, and this is first problem with their disk.

Can confirm this through a friend as well. This just furthers my hypothesis that it's a reporting error/issue with reading the SMART data.

I'm going to hold off sending in my drive and wait and see what Samsung says then wilont-rex. It just have to be an error in reporting it just doesn't make any sense otherwise.

These drives are gonna be the single biggest disappointment in Samsung's SSD lineup if this isn't an error lol. This would be scam territory tbh. Things are gonna give us magnitudes less life than they quoted if this data is to be believed.

I do believe it is an error though. Hopefully they address it soon.

Lol yep my disk will be dead within a year if it's not a reading error.

Speed is pretty good here but I use the Full performance mode:

I think you're being a bit dramatic. Everything about my drive is fine other than the reported life, which according to my research, is not a standardized metric in SMART. Highly likely, especially with all these reports, that it's just a calculation/read error.

We have plenty of time between the warranty period and the rate that this is going down to wait and see what Samsung's response is. Calm down.

It's possible the reason wilont-rex drives health is going down faster is because the 1TB version has a 600TBW rating and the 2TB has a 1200TBW rating. So something happens where the drives think a lot more TBW has happened than actually has happened. I made sure to monitor my drive closely at the 12TBW mark but nothing, instead health went down 1% somewhere closer to 13TBW.

That's the likely reason. My friends 1TB is clearly going down faster as well, by about a factor of 2, which lines right up with half the rated endurance.

That said, it doesn't rule out a bug or misreading of the data on this stat. Very likely using the same method on all 990 Pro's despite the capacity differences, and either there is a FW bug or these programs need to be updated for the way these drives present this data.

There is not connection betwean TBW and percentage Used.
Last 5 point of this parametr increased with same TBW (difference was 200 MB), just shut down pc and new "cold" boot.
This is reason, why just this drive want use as system disk anymore.
As data drive, why not, if failure, then RMA, but not as system disk.

There should be a connection but somehow this is not functioning properly and that's a sign the decreasing health isn't something real.

In your case, maybe not, but mine has been entirely consistent. Every ~1.5-2TBW drops me by 1%. I agree that is a bit odd, but still...clearly some software/firmware weirdness going on here since every single person I have been able to get to check this on a 990 Pro series drive has had similar behavior.

I would be floored if any drives actually die before the rated lifespan. Knowing Samsung drives, they'll probably live a good bit beyond it tbh.

Maybe we should tip some site like Gamers Nexus about this it kind of feels like there could be a story here.
