Be Quiet SHADOW ROCK 2
Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3
Kingston Black Series 8GB
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
Western Digital Green 4TB 3.5"
Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl)
Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
Microsoft Windows 7
(Will likely add another hdd and maybe a graphics card, 7850/7870 or equiv)

Was considering the rm 550 until I came across shilka's posts, amongst others, advising against.
The thing is not silent, but a whole a lot quieter than my previous PSU, and even when this thing spins up it isn't that noticeable. (I am very sensitive so sound as well.)

I already have a waterblock installed on my cpu but my water loop isn't completed yet so I couldn't run the computer for more than 5 minutes.
So I actaully haven't heard the fan come on yet hahaha when I get home I will switch it to standard mode for the fan and try it out.

I don't mean to be dismissive, but XFX has yet to release anything not Seasonic and without Japanese caps. (you know what they say: there's a first for everything; that said, that first is probably not today) And Seasonic soldering quality is pretty good these days.

i'm inclined to agree, there's a very insignificant chance you're not correct, it's mostly just for my peace of mind, since i really want to buy one soon to replace my 7 year old seasonic

Thanks for the feedback

Still wont repeat the mistake i made with the NZXT HALE 82 V2

I take it you've seen or know about this and just want to confirm that XFX didn't ask Seasonic to mangle the internals to save costs?

It's just a modular version of the G series and I've heard that the G series did have some coil whines but luckily my XTR is silent

XFX modular power supplies come with PCIe power cable that has two PCIe 6+2 pin heads on the other end. So both heads can be plugged in the same video card right? Or one cable from the PSU for each PCIe power socket on the card?

You can use both PCI-E plugs from the same cable you dont need to use two cables

I help out a friend that builds very large mining rigs for a living. We started out using the PRO 1000 watt and 850 watt.

I only have one complaint about them. It is kinda silly perhaps but some connectors would NOT click into the PSU side of things.
It is incredibly annoying. The used plastic connector housings just would come off because the clip wouldn't click and hold on.

For us it has been a reason not to work with these PSUs again. Sounds lame perhaps. But when building systems that pull a lot of power with 6 gfx cards per system you do not want the cables to disconnect from the PSU.

And for the record; we had this issue with multiple of the 1000 W versions which have different cables than the 850W version.

I found this to be the case as well. The stock connectors are just bulky and does not seem to want to fit into the female connectors very well. My 24-pin originally would not go in all the way.
I have since made custom cables for the whole rig and the aftermarket connectors work a lot better than stock
