These are the graphics scores which I am getting in 3D Mark11:

GTX 670

1175/6008 MHz ~9 900
1241/6008 MHz ~10 350
1241/6300 MHz ~10 400
1241/6600 MHz ~10 450

It seems like oc'ing memory is kinda pointless or am I wrong?
I found overclocking the memory helped the most, especially in games that really needed it like Crysis 3. It was the difference between barely playable and comfortably playable.

I managed to get mine to very nearly 7GHz, performance was very close to a 770

My 670's are still going strong. Decided to see what the old 2700k could do today after being in service for over 2 years. Pulled 4.9Ghz at 1.43volts. Pretty happy I have to say. One 670 is at 1267Mhz the other at 1242mhz. Stock RAM speeds on both. Netted these results.http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8694520

Both cards will go higher too I know, but I didn't care to take to the time and see how high. The stonger card will go over 1300mhz. The weaker around 1280mhz. Not sure what the scores those would get, but I maybe I'll push the 2700k up a bit more just to get to 5.0Ghz. Seems very doable.

After all this time I still love these 670's (MSI PE editions) Great cards IMO. No plans to upgrade them to 8 series unless the new ones really smoke em'.

The 290's are beast for a single affordable card. I love those too.

My single Windforce is going strong. I even game on 2560x1440p with it with pretty high settings. It needs a playmate to play tag with too..

Anyone using overclocked 670 sli in bf4 @ 1440p. I'm currently in the fence about buying 780ti kingpin from the marketplace or getting maximus vii and 4790k.

Hey guys!
I have a 670 Windforce x2. I recently stumbled upon a 3DMark 11 score thread. Decided to test mine and it seems I'm getting anywhere between 500 to 1000 lower than some people. Graphics test, of course, not counting the CPU score (may vary).
I'm getting 8700 Graphic score on Performance. I've seen people getting 9400-9600. Why is that?

EDIT Found the answer. CPU plays a role in the graphics test score.

Is this normal, that raising any video settings from low/very low like shadows, shaders, even textures and also 2x or 4x MSAA results in noticable lag?

No matter if CS:GO or BF4, I always have to play on all low to get responsive mouse movement at high framerates of 200 to 300 FPS.

I am using an old 60Hz screen, so maybe it's own lag lifts the overall lag over a threshold were every additional lag is very noticable.

Does the GTX 670 have a too old technology and 700/800 Series cards have less latency lag?

My CPU is not the problem since it's an 8 thread Haswell Xeon and system optimised for low load.

the 670 is pretty much exactly the same chip design that goes into the 7xx series. There must be a problem elsewhere. What drivers are you using? have you installed the motherboard drivers?

Hey Deders,
yes everything is up to date, drivers, BIOS, always the latest one.
I am really driver addicted and search for updates all the time.

I also use high performance for energy sheme and texture filtering in the Nvidia control panel and also 1 pre rendered frame for low latency.

Maybe my Asrock B85M (business chipset) board is not good for gaming and I should try another board?

I do not need fancy stuff of other chipsets like more SATA slots or SLI support.

Hey softs... Just to be clear, it's a fact that business class boards and CPUs are not great performers with games. It can absolutely cause strange performance issues, no matter how many threads you have. There are real implementation reasons for Intel to keep the Xeon and the consumer series separate. Especially concerning gamers.

If you can rub a few pennies together or sell that Xeon, get a basic gaming board and an i5 of almost any flavor, and put it together with that 670 and I'm sure you'll see a massive difference. Even on that old screen. However, add a 120hz screen to this upgrade, and it will change your gaming life.

Is wow just weird or am I really unstable? So if I leave wow on max no vsync my card will hit 100%usage and the power usage will go to about 104% but it will start to throttle. It goes from 1280 which i had in multiple runs of heaven and played ffxiv with and jumps down to about 1250 and will occasionally go back up. Temps don'e break 60C.

If i turn vsync on gpu usage goes down to 80%is same with power usage and clock stays at 1280.

Any thoughts?

Wow will show high frames without generating alot of heat because it isn't as graffixly intense, other games will generate alot more heat running at lower rates I assume GPU usage goes down on vsync because in a way you are throttling the card if I'm not mistaken by hindering one of two different refresh rates and in turn the power consumption is diminished while still being able to maintain the same clock speed.

That makes sense, but what I don't get is in FFXIV I will be at 100% GPU usage, roughtly 95-98% Power Usage and clocks are rock solid at 1280mhz. If I monitor during wow without vsync I get 100% GPU Usage, about 104% Power Usage (I have it set at 114% so that shouldnt be throttling) and the clock speed jumps around. I blows my mind that wow is making my card throttle or is it just that WOW does something weird. As soon as I turn on vsync the core stabalizes but gpu and power useage drop to the 80's.

It just confuses me a bit, I can't fathom wow making my OC unstable but heaven or FFXIV not. really weird in my book.

For now I'm just playing with vsync.

I have a 670 4GB FTW version which has served me well. I was thinking of upgrading to a 680 if I could find one or a 780 or 970

However newegg has the same model of my current 670 FTW as evga refurbished for $249. Don't mind refurb I have had great luck with evga on past refurb and get new warranty

So I am trying to figure out the performance difference between spending more on one of the newer video cards which cost more or running two of those 670s in SLI. I mostly just play battlefield games. Any help would be great thanks.

SLI 670 would be faster than the other options.
