Hey, I've had 2 laptops now with this WiFi card, and it's just appalling, constant packet loss and connection drops, so online gaming is IMPOSSIBLE. There will be numerous lag spikes, or if its bad enough, full on disconnects. No other wireless device on the network suffers from these issues. Is there something I'm missing that can fix this?

Laptop spec is in sig, I'm using an Asus N66U running Merlin.

Or should I just replace it with a better card? If so, where in the UK supplies them? They seem difficult to find (unless I want another 7260)

Bump?

I have had nothing but good luck with Intel 7260 wireless cards.
Perhaps you just had bad luck. Also might check that the drivers were correctly installed. Did the wireless card come with the laptop or was it added in after?

On both laptops they came as part of the base spec. I've tried the drivers provided by the laptop manufacturer I've also tried numerous different versions of the drivers off the intel site.

I've resorted to using a crappy usb 2.0 d-link adapter, and while its not as fast as the intel (tops out at 50mbps of my 120mbps internet connection) it doesnt drop the connection like crazy during gaming like the 7260 does.

AC.

I've googled it and apparently its a very common issue. Surely there is a fix though?

My ÂŁ7 d-link usb 2 adapter shouldnt be better at connection stability.

I use an Intel Centrino 6205 in my Impact ITX board's little half pci-e adapter vs the original card that died on me about 3 months ago without any issues at all. Fantastic little card.

Granted it's Wireless-N though, no AC...

Had the card for over 2 years now, first in it's little desktop bracket from before my Impact board: link and never had any issues at all with it in it's bracket either!

The 6205 is probably the best card Intel has made since the legendary 5300. I am extremely impressed by devices I've seen running them like HP Elitebooks, for instance. Absurdly stable and performant even in garbage conditions.

The 7260AC is...alright. Windows 10 drivers for it are absolutely horrid with the card becoming unusable because it resets every 15 seconds. :| On other operating systems, it's okay.

Try turning the power down to medium in the settings in device manager.

I'm not going to get TOO excited, but after I did this I played an hour of BF4 and didn't get a single drop out... I'll keep testing and report back

How did that fix work? Consistent for you?
Yeah it seems to be the general opinion (and my own) that the 7260 is just awful.

However after I made the change that was suggested by coachmark2, I've played about 3 hours of BF4 and a couple hours of World of Warships (both games that would rubberband VERY badly whenever the 7260 suffered from its constant hiccups/packet loss) and I haven't had a single issue since... No idea why it seems to have worked, but I'm pretty damn happy.

Sounds like it was overheating before and now it's not. Time to slap some heatsinks on it.

I haven't any issues with mine. I always have just downloaded the intel drivers straight from Intel and haven't had a hiccup once. Used the same card in HP that I was able to whitelist the BIOS then I moved it to my current desktop that Im typing on currently. I see speeds of 30-40MB/s going to my levovo IX2 NAS. Not bad considering Im up stairs about 30 feet from the router.

You're in the minority. Google the 7260 and there is thread after thread after thread of people having issues.
