Hold up a second...

Can anyone with a 7900 xt/xtx able to check the vbios and confirm if they are on A0 silicon? From the reports these MBA's are A0.
I read that GPUz reads the board version not the silicon version? Didn't know that...And not sure how true that is.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I loaded up some techpowerup bios and all of them are A0 stepping. Are you sure the A1 stepping is even out there yet?

Well last night initial install went smooth.

i) Used DDU to remove drivers.
ii) Drained loop, removed my RX 6800 XT Pulse with Bykski block.
iii) Rig POSTed 1st time no issue.

In OS Task Manager showed ~8.x seconds bios time, same as RX 6800 XT.

Ran SuperPosition 4K Optimised, got 20K @ stock.

Tried 3DM FS rig black screen and turn off.

Re-powered rig, same thing occurred

Turned off PSU, card is clearly seated well, can see clearly PCI-E seated as it should be. Check power cables, again seated as should be. Using a Cooler Master V850 PSU, separate cables per PCI-E plug.

Ran SuperPosition 4K Optimised, got 22K @ stock.

Tried Heaven rig black screen and turn off.

Tried Witcher 3 rig black screen and turn off.

OS is fresh install only week or two ago, W10 Pro fully updated. OS is not stripped, but no bloat and excess in background from my apps I use or at startup.

Currently on UEFI 4303 Beta for Crosshair VIII Dark Hero, had no issues prior to swapping to RX 7900 XTX MBA.

Trying another UEFI for mobo.

My system specs:-

5800X3D (BR 2422 PGS)
ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero (UEFI 4303 Beta AGESA 1.2.0.8)
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2x16GB (BLS2K16G4D32AESB)

SN770 2TB NVMe
2x 870 EVO 4TB SATA

Cooler Master V850

Be Quiet Dark Base Pro 900, front door removed and mesh mod done, top panel stock mesh had plastic removed to improve airflow.

Cooling:-

Bykski A-Ryzen-ThV2-X CPU block (Arctic Cooling MX-4)
Bykski A-SP6800-X Water block (Arctic Silver 5)
2x Magicool 360 Slim G2 radiator
EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM
EK ZMT (OD 5/8", ID 3/8")
Barrow fittings
Coolant Mayhems XT-1 clear concentrate ~20% mix with distilled water
Top radiator as exhaust, 3x Arctic Cooling F12 PWM (push only)
Front rad as intake, 6x Arctic Cooling F12 PWM (push/pull only)
Case rear fan, Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 1000RPM (set to 100%)
Case RAM fan Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 1000RPM (set to 100%)

Shot in the dark...weren't 4090 ppl having similar issues on rog boards( turned out to be mobo bios issue)?
Yeah.

Just did last release UEFI instead of latest beta on mobo, UEFI 4201 AGESA 1.2.0.7, same symptoms :(.

Have removed card again and reseated.

All seems fine on PCI-E fingers, slot, etc. Inspecting card visually I can't say it looks as it has any physical issue.

So far only things I can run:-

i) SuperPosition
ii) CB15 OpenGL bench
iii RealBench benchmark

Trying an even older UEFI next, UEFI 4006. I can't go any older as 5800X3D won't be supported.

Only options left are:-

i) Apply an image of OS when freshly installed with no drivers/apps, etc and go from there.

ii) Swap the 5800X3D for 5900X, try even older UEFI on mobo.

iii) Rebuild rig with C7HWIFI

or...

Just sit back and wait for update on UEFI of mobo/drivers on GPU....

** edit **

UEFI 4201 I can't even run Superposition now, black screen and rig turn off...

If 4006 do the same, it's defo mobo UEFI and only UEFI 4303 beta is remotely allowing any GPU usage...

turf off game mode and gpu scheduling
Thanks will try that (y)
Same symptoms on UEFI 4006.

Trying with UEFI 4303 Beta using those settings, as that has been only UEFI allowing some GPU usage.

Will check, but saw this on OCUK, link.

I think your PSU might be to blame. I had the same one and it kept turning off the pc under high load and power spikes with a 6900XT. Swapped to a corsair 850 and no problems so far. I'll recieve my 7900XTX later today. Will def report my findings here.
Thanks for your share :) .

I've used power hog kit like TR1950X/2950X, RX Vega 64 with it no issues. It's Seasonic platform in Cooler Master branding, has no OCP, single 70A rail for 12V. So I'd be surprised if it's PSU, but open to idea.

Back on UEFI 4303 Beta. I can't find GPU-Z v2.51.5 online, @W1zzard.

SP4K initial run last night

Wall plug watt meter show max ~470W AC side draw for total rig and screen (ASUS MG279Q), PSU can deliver 850W DC side. Jonnyguru site down, did ref that on purchase of V850, but TPU shows ~110% cross loading of PSU (see table here) and I'm no way near that.

Looking at wall plug meter for last run, I don't think PSU is issue.

Leaning towards UEFI being issue.

i) Game Mode On/Off makes no difference on UEFI 4006/4201, insta black screen on GPU load on things that run on UEFI 4303 Beta.

ii) HW GPU scheduling On/Off makes no difference on UEFI 4006/4201, insta black screen on GPU load on things that run on UEFI 4303 Beta.

iii) SVM have on usually to allow VM, On/Off makes no difference on UEFI 4006/4201, insta black screen on GPU load on things that run on UEFI 4303 Beta.

iv) SAM On/Off makes no difference on UEFI 4006/4201, insta black screen on GPU load on things that run on UEFI 4303 Beta.

UEFI 4303 Beta

Ran SP4K 2 times back to back, wall meter total rig inc screen ~470W MAX, same POST of system 2x CB15 OpenGL bench ~225W MAX, same POST of system 2x RealBench benchmark ~475W MAX.

So far this is all I can run successfully...

Where do you get them from in Germany?

Still 0 stock yet in regular NL shops
There was 1 listing from a shop that I always had issues with :D (1-2 days delivery, now delisted)
Also checked some of the German ones from AMD website
0

Dont really want amazon or ebay or similar, but dont see them there either

Only the XT on AMD.com

oh they only got XT :D

then I guess they hide it as soon as its sold?

@gupsterg did you let the card acclimate a bit after you received it? Just asking in case to find out the root cause of your issues.
I just got my Sapphire 7900xtx ref delivered...We have -7C outside the box feels like an iceblock.
Was about -2/3C yesterday here in the UK when got delivery. Left it ~2.5hrs inside box in my home, did some unboxing photos for myself, then left it out of box for ~1.5hrs.

Below spoiler screen grabs of install OS wise.

1st screen grab was RX 6880 XT bios time, as had read some stating long POST time on another forum with RX 7900 series, so noted that. Then you'll see DDU, then I drain loop and fit etc...

Looking at driver install screenie time ~4.5hrs time between receiving and driver install.

That Spam supply for the holidays..
LOL!

I was hoping for meaty goodness from RX 7900 XTX, but so far limited :whelp: ...

Below attached is memtestcl as txt, change extension to rar. The Stilt sorted it back in 2021 when I asked him as it wouldn't test more than 4GB an instance, if anyone uses please share how it went for you, just be aware you can't really test full VRAM as some will be in use, so set 1 or 2 GB less.

Power draw max ~450W AC wall plug my total rig inc screen.

Original git repo, doesn't do more than 4GB an instance.
