x3D's are arround the corner aren't they ? say 20 days or so ?
I don't know. There was rumors that x3D will release earlier in this round. But so early as 20 days?

As mentioned before, my guess is that it will take a couple of months for updated AGESA, bios and chipset drivers to truly hit the strides of the 9950X & Co. Hopefully, by the time the 9950X3D rolls around, most of the early teething issues are laid to rest.
Yeah, AMD has never been good with AGESA, BIOS, software, but it matures over time, usually. But it depends on the time of the release of x3D, if it's about 20 day, then we shouldn't have high hopes for a bug-free start.

I honestly doubt we will see X3D parts released in 20 days. I'd say October, November at the earliest.
Yeah, October, November sounds much more realistic. But since those 20 days rumors our out already, we have to wait and see.

The supply of 9950X seams to be really low.

My favorite local dealer had just 5 in stock in first day. That was sold out the first day, and since then it say; 50+ expected at 2. October, but the date is not confirmed.
This means they asked for 50+ to start with, but they got only 5. And now, they won't get any before 2. October, but that may get delayed too.

What's the reason for this low supply?

...I read that at the same time, 9900X are getting discounted already by $50...Could be either TSMC yields, or sales department / bad planning. I think it is probably the former, but that's a guess only.

The fact is that nobody wants any of the other SKUs. The 9950X is the only interesting one. My local store has sold 3x as many more 9950X than 9900X. And they aren't even bothering to stock the 1 CCD chips since they correctly predicted there would be no demand for them. Amazon seems to be selling 10x as many 9950X as 9900X. So the demand doesn't match the supply.

If the stocks at my local store are representative of the supply, the 9900X and 9950X supply is a 3:1 ratio. This would imply binning/yields of 3:1 with very few CCDs meeting the 9950X bin. Thus there is a massive mismatch between the supply and demand of the various SKUs. If AMD wanted the supply and demand ratios of the SKUs to line up, they should be selling the 9950X at $1000+ and all the other SKUs at near giveaway prices.

I have multiple reasons to believe there are yield issues with this line. The 7950X used CCDs with fmax 5.85 and 5.75 IIRC. This time, the 9950X seems to have fmax of 5.75 and 5.45. That's a 300 MHz is a huge difference. This could imply that yields for the top-bin CCD aren't very good - thus forcing them to use inferior CCDs for the second CCD. I think if AMD lowered the 9950X's fmax by 100 or 200 MHz, the yield would be much better for the 9950X.

Even the AMD store is out of stock for 9950X, and there is low supply in Norway too, so why are they selling it with 10% discount in this first week? What's going on here?.

Your world is very small.
Yeah, but the 9950X is in short supply in this small world, and one of the best suppliers is looking for a possible resupply in 2. Octover. So why should anybody sell it with 10% discount in such a world? What's going on in this world?
We buy CPU locally because it's a better guaranty and consumer protection.

Amazon has them but not discounted.

Yeah, there is in stock several places, but even a good Norwegian store can't get any 9950X before 2.October.. In such a shortage, another store is selling it with 10% discount. Something is not adding up.

When I say it's weird, it's based on this shot from Nizzen. I had a fast search but couldn't find any store with this 10% discount. I asked him about the store name, but still waiting for his answer. He hasn't seen the question yet, probably. I haven't seen this 10% discount personally.

But I personally have seen that a good Norwegian store can't get any 9950X before 2. October.
EDIT: This the store with no supply until 2. October

hi everyone, I am aware that this is not a problem and that it is completely safe. But I wanted your opinion. I have a liquid cooling with Mo-Ra 420, the CPU load temperatures are perfect, but I can't understand why the idle temperatures are so "high"
Both IOD Hotspot and CPU tdie are around 43/44 degrees without doing anything at all, I have no processes in the background.
the liquid temperature is around 25 degrees.

I tried to lower the Vsoc and maybe I gained 1 degree, but I'm not satisfied, I would like to have the CPU under 40 degrees in idle.

I emphasize that it is my obsession, I am absolutely aware that this is not a problem, but if you have advice on how to lower the idle temperature as much as possible I would be grateful. I use Windows 11

@LtMatt

Hi Matt, I see you have a 9950x too and I see your idle temps are very good, if you have any advice I appreciate it. I would like to use liquid metal like you, could it reduce idle temps? I have used liquid metal in the past but I stained both the cpu ihs and the waterblock, is there any way to clean it?

There not selling.good. when 7950x launched it took me a month to get 1.

Well, in Spain they are in stock, I don't think they are selling a single one. I bought a 9900x and it arrived in 24 hours, but there is also a 9950x.

That's stock, just set the FCLK to 2200Mhz and memory only the primary timings

Image

With a Ryzen 7950x I managed to get 388 on that bench at 720p...

And with the 7800X3D that I still have I got 426... I'm not liking the Ryzen 9900x very much.

The ram memory at 6400Mhz CL30 gives me this

It's dual ccd you need to push the memory.

Quick ambient tests on a 9900x i may not keep.

static core clocks @ 1.2v to test ccds quality......that looks actually perfect for setting up +200 pbo boost/co tune ;)
