Hi all. So I've got a rtx 4070 super FE, When I play the games world of warcraft, the gpu seems to run at the stock 2475hz boost and not really boosts above it. I tried increasing GPU clock speed, yet it has no real affect, when I check its 2475hz.
If I play another game like cyberpunk the increased gpu clock is seen.

How can I increase the default 2475hz clock so i can fixed it at 2660hz, not 2475?

Most likely you are cpu bound. It's hard to make gpu work 100% in WoW.

It's not cpu related, it's wow not demanding alot. So it just sitting at 2475hz. Why I want to increase the basic boost clock from the above. Yet I can not see a way?

Are you sure you're not hitting the monitor refresh rate cap? How many fps are you getting?

OK if you look at your card gpu, play a game alt tab, now look at the gpu clock ya see. Now how do you increase

How is it not cpu related? If your cpu can't feed the gpu enough frames to render, then it will not boost. You can use Afterburner to look at real-time monitoring.

As your not understanding what I mean, sod the game. Can be any game. How do you change default boost clock, using afterburner it will increase max boost yet its not increasing the default boost clock of 2475

Guessing it's by a voltage curve,GPU cap. Have seen some saying use nvidia-smi too.
Another way of testing put a game on min settings then check gpu speed. Will prob idle at the min boost for me it's 2475hz. I want to increase that

You literally said a few posts above that the gpu does boost in Cyberpunk?

Yes, why I was saying your not getting what I mean. it can boost in wow that is not the issue.

I want to increase the boost min clock so it idles higher

You make very confusing posts..
But if you want higher idle boost, you can try enabling "prefer maximum performance" in Nvidia control panel, 3d settings.

Sorry about that. I've tried all gpu tweaking software using auto, or manaul setting. Yet have not played with curve. none have increase the min boost, only the max boost before it then throttles. I'm hoping nvidia-smi may be the answer else I guess it's bios locked.

Back in the day there would of been a tool for this. Now there is no real 3ed party overclocking tools, even the good old nv inspector is very old. Will let you know how I get on with nvidia-smi

So I've made some progress using Nvidia-smi. When I run the command "nvidia-smi -lgc 2500" in a batch file as admin.
2500 being the frequency I want to set it at. This is fixed speed no boosting, it works, and to reset to default I use "nvidia-smi -rgc" with out quotes.

I still need to do some testing. I will start at the above frequency, then monitor how thing work.

So after 10 min of of trying a game with the above settings I see the clock is reporting 2505hz else everything else looks good I think.

I still don't get what you need. Having a locked freq of 2.5ghz ish in idle? For the sake of what?

Please 1 post is enough, you can edit

as pushing idle when a game is only asking for that, increases fps unless you hit a cap.
Also you can lock a GPU range, I'm now using 2600-2770 with out any problems. I've not had a report of performance limiters, just need to run the command before your game then run after to reset.
Also all temps are with in range and stopping nvidia boost going too high then throttling. got to be a good thing.
P.S. its like getting a asus gpu or another 3ed party, they increase the default boost idle. The highest default idle was 2655 I think by icolour.

When I check the power setting in nvidia-smi it reports 220w if I use after burner I can increase to 109% this increases the power in nvidia-smi To 239.80w. Why are they not letting us increase to the full 240.00w, yet I can set in nvidia-smi but wondering 🤔. Out of time to test more today but guessing for safety?

Just cap the frame rate, the mhz will boost as far as the algorithm needs but the core will draw less amperage.
I do at 161 fps.
And what I found out using nvidia-smi is I can overclock, stop over throttling (less fps spikes), use less power(by not over throttling), and dont need to inatall anything. Nvidia-smi has only just come available for windows, it was only used on non window systems.
