IMO its a smart move. But I believe with the 4000 series they didnt get CAD files early from Nvidia/AIBs - so that delayed their release. Might be the same for the 5000 series.
Whenever in doubt email watercool. You endup with Markus who is great too. Thats how it been without Jakob here all these years.

I just placed an order for another Strix Pro block, I have the Nickel now but wanted one with just a copper base to match my IV block. I might get a 5090 at some point but I decided to go all out again with the 4090. The plan is to finally flash the bios and have some fun with it.

Same as others, I (almost) always order from watercool.de directly. Shipping via DHL is really quick too. Dazmode here in canada carries some stuff so I try to buy from them when I can.
The actual trick is doing group buy among friends in same city. It ends up being lot cheaper than dazmode and us in my experience with splitting flat rate europe shipping with fedex fees. Same with aquacomputer stuff.

Not sure now but before i would get gb of 500-600euro to get free shipping to create more savings.

I have been doing it for years and i know some others do it when they are all upgrading at same time.

I could not find a single HeatKiller cpu water block anywhere in the US. Finally had to go directly to WaterCool in Germany to get one. Makes little sense to me how their entire line is sold out/not available here.
Tons on aftermarket (hws) for great prices. Heck, i was giving them away when i was swapping blocks , rads, etc like madness in 2018-2021. I even would havre gotten the current new mo-ra and given away my mo-ra3 420 without thought then. Now kind of settled down so it will lot slower progress and upgrade are lot more pragmatic decisions.

Atm i was planning to get rid of cpu iv black nickel as i picked up optimus sig v3 intel early last year. However delays happened so its been put off till 2026 when i do intend to really replace the cpu.

Cleaned up the 4090 FE block, as well as installed the new ultra coldplate. Instead of using pads, I used putty (Upsiren UTP-8). Core is using TG Conductonaut Extreme. I think the use of putty really helped with the core-coldplate contact which results to great temperatures on the GPU.

Core-coolant delta is 9K
Core-hotspot delta is 7K
Coolant-ambient delta is 3.5K (2x 360S + 2x 240L + Mora 420)

When can we expect the TUF block for the 5090? My understanding was this is the next block to be considered.

Basically it is 2-3months away (from communication with Markus in April). So that makes it June-July. My take is preorder but how long before it actually ships is next question. Better than EKWB though with it financial situation.

I just picked up an Alphacool block off Taobao in the meantime while i wait for Watercool block. Found it for great price and instock there.

How do you like the alphacool block so far? Do you also have a tuf? Unsure if I can order from taobao, US tariffs and all that.

It's still enroute (nature of using Taobao shipping). So can't tell you how it is. I would just wait to get an GPU then order the block. It's gotten easier to get an 5090 TUF in Canada so i got one so i can use it in meantime at minimum.

Your best bet is probably buy the watercool block over alphacool (it is made in China).

In regards to the block, its good quality but i think watercool is still the block to get. Best bang for your bucks. The taobao front is interesting for canadians basically the block go through cbsa with no taxes so its potential additional savings avenue for other waterparts.

There was one last big drop of Tuf/Astral at bestbuy canada at canadian msrp plus memory express fulfilling. Next round we will get 10-15% increase in price

Has there ever been any word from watercool about producing compression fittings for soft and hard tube along with rotaries spacers etc etc
ek quantum compressions and rotaries are vaporware, however i would love to use watercool fittings if it happened
