Buying on Ebay vs Newegg

So, I'm considering buying a new computer, but I've found that ebay prices can be as much as 25% off newegg prices. Now, obviously newegg is not a reputed seller, but if you get the hardware at the price, who really cares? Are there any great advantages to buying off of newegg?

One thing I can think of is the warranty - but newegg warranty isn't guaranteed, and isn't there manufacturer's warranty?

Thanks.

Usually manufacturers don't honor RMA if they require an invoice and they see you bought the product off of ebay. To most companies, ebay isn't a reputable vendor.

That's not to say I don't shop on ebay. In fact I do most of my shopping on ebay, because with 8% bing cash back (which is ending soon), the deals are unbeatable sometimes. For example, I got a brand new Raven 2 case for 130 bucks today off ebay. Can't beat that.

I say if you're on the hunt for a good rig but are on a budget, shop on ebay. It's very buyer friendly and you're sure to be happy with what you get if you buy from a reputable seller.

Good luck!

With newegg the advantage is that if something comes DOA then they will replace it in a few days and you can trust them. But if you buy from newegg you will most likely receive 10 packages all from different sellers and it can be a pain trying to deal ith somebody from Hong Kong about a dead computer part. Just go with newegg, they are the most reputable online seller ever and the prices are pretty awesome too.

1) Newegg doesn't suck like Ebay Does.
2) Newegg has a RMA Service.
3) Newegg products are brand new, and come with warranties unless otherwise noted.
4) Newegg offers reviews from other customers on products that may or may not suck.
5) Newegg has monthly, weekly, and daily deals on hardware.
6) Newegg is the most respected hardware dealer in the United States.
7) Newegg offers combo deals on certain pieces of hardware.

I generally dabble with used hardware so I buy more CPUs from ebay. If you don't mind used, and are ready to put up a fight (and don't mind not having a warranty) go the eBay route.

I saved a ton when I upgraded to a T7250 in my laptop, E6300 in my Desktop by using eBay ... a 3 year old CPU is going to do the exact same as a new one ... provided it wasn't overclocked or anything.

If you are a smart ebay buyer you can do very well with used parts.

If you're buying new, you want the proven backup NewEgg can give you. An Ebay seller won't give a rat's *ss if you find out your mobo isn't compatible with your RAM.

If you're talking complete running systems, I would never buy on ebay. And if you don't have a history of being a smart ebayer, then forget it altogether.

Well you're right ebay is a lot cheaper...like you could get an i5-750 new on ebay for like 180-190 depending on shipping when its like $200 on newegg.com
but like don't trust it....the fact that most of the items they sell are opened but resealled and sellers say they are "new" just shows that they might not be
for example, if you search for a processor on ebay and read the information.....it says it is sealed by not in original packaging....this shows its been tampered with.....just don't trust ebay for something expensive....and the price difference isn't substantial that you will only be able to afford it on ebay or something

Newegg - Reputable, trustworthy, and I've never ever had a problem with them yet.. Aside from box abuse, but that's probably UPS' fault and not Newegg's fault.

eBay - Can be reputable, trustworthy... But, you have to remember, eBay is people selling products, not a company selling products... So even know there's a "rep" meter, it's still different.

I personally would never go to eBay for PC parts.
