The 5930k suddedly seems obsolete..
Edit:
Nvm, noticed PCI-E configs.

28 vs. 40 lanes.

Only people running 3-way or more will even care... But it looks like the 5820K might be that $350 6-core that people have been waiting for. The 8-core pricing just sucks for the people who wanted to get that at ~$650.

Okay, I can swing $350 for a CPU, it's the MB and RAM pricing that may be a problem though. Hopefully I can save enough from my new job to make it happen. What are the odds of picking up the combo for @$800?

Cool. With a 6-core 5930K and no big die Maxwell, it'll be a cheap year for me on the hardware front.

This year is too expensive for a pc upgrade

. If I didn't have to take my fiance to the islands for her birthday, the 5960x would of been mine

The difference is that a 6-core haswell with HT is more than twice as fast as a 6-core Vishera...

i hope that the 16 or 32 gigs of ddr4 RAM and a good x99 mobo won't cost me a kidney otherwise i'll buy a 4770k and a good z87 mobo ( no z97 here in algeria for now) hoping it'll be compatible with the 4790k because i'm tired of my 8320 and the aging 990fx platform.

You do know that there's a very good chance that the exact same will happen with this thing as with the Titan?

Intel has done it before. i7 970 which on water and air performed identically to the 980X came out a few months later.

Being an early adopter is a bad idea if you care about value.

It won't. No Devils Canyon on Z87 boards.

Well, at least the price hike with the *930K vs *960X CPUs is far more justifiable than before

Nah, that's totally not in line with their previous extreme CPU prices. i think it's gonna be 400 - 550 -1100.

Just 3GHz on the 8-core. I wonder if it'll overclock well.
that wont happen, if intel releases a 400$ 6 core it will destroy the market for Haswell and Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge E, the lowest price that hexa core is gonna be is 575$
575$-700$-1000$
