I read somewhere online that the cooler is bringing the card down because the cooler is not attached to the pci-e bracket at the back.

The XFX graphics card cooler is attached to the bracket giving it support.... soooooooooo LEGO HERE I COME!

same with the MSI Twin Frozr cards. They have a steel bracket along the pcb so the card will not bend.

I've had it happen. There shouldn't be anything to really worry about it, but when it artifacts, there's a big issue. I'd get the Powercolor Powerjack to bend it back to shape.

I use this handy dandy Wizards of Waverly Place pencil I got from my daughter to prop mine up. I'm going to Plasti-Coat it black. Or just buy a wooden dowel from Lowes or Home Depot for 1-2$ and trim it to the size you need instead of spending 15-20$ on the Powerjack thing.
